Titleist TS2 And TS3 Hybrids Are Built To Go - The Golf Guide

Titleist TS2 And TS3 Hybrids Are Built To Go

Born from the Titleist Speed Project that introduced the new TS drivers and fairway woods, Titleist introduces the new TS2 and TS3 hybrids. These golf clubs are built with a new level of Titleist speed that explodes through the ball to provide more distance with amazing feel and lively sound. TGW tried them out on the course and talked with Corey Gerrard, the Global Product Marketing Manager from Titleist to bring you the details of their newest hybrids. See our exclusive video reviews then read the inside story of the new hybrids in our interview.

Titleist TS3 Hybrid Review

TGW: Just like the drivers and fairways, the hybrids now have the TS name. Why the name change?

Corey Gerrard: The TS hybrids were designed on the same Titleist Speed Chassis as the drivers and fairways so it makes sense with the construction and performance based on more speed.

TGW: There is a TS2 and TS3 model, who is each one for?

CG: Both models are for the dedicated golfer who uses their hybrids not as rescue clubs but as scoring clubs.

TS2 hybrids are for the golfer who sweeps the ball off the ground, more like a fairway, and it looks more like a fairway metal. They feature high launch and easy distance with a lot of forgiveness.

TS3 hybrids are for the golfer who has more of a descending blow, a steeper deliver to the ball, with more of an iron look. They feature mid-launch with precise distance and iron-like control.

TGW: Tell us a little about the technology in these new hybrids.

CG: With the Speed Chassis design, the TS2 and TS3 hybrids have a slightly thinner crown and a significantly thinner clubface. The face is 16% thinner. They also have a refined, Tour-preferred shaping. You get adjustable loft with the SureFit hosel as well.

The TS2 hybrid has a SureFit flat weight just like the driver and fairway. The TS3 hybrid has the magnetic SureFit CG system with a weight that is unique to the hybrids to maximize the center of gravity movement.

TGW: We want to ask about one feature that the new hybrids do not have and that’s the Active Recoil Channel. Why was the ARC eliminated from the TS2 and TS3 hybrids?

CG: Just like with the TS drivers, the thin crown and ultra-thin face allowed us to create higher launch, increased ball speed, and better MOI (more forgiveness) by better shifting the center of gravity. The ARC was there to protect that ball speed on shots hit low on the face, but with the higher lofts of the hybrids, there wasn’t a need for that feature.

TGW: Finally, what kind of shaft options will you have in the TS2 and TS3 hybrids?

CG: There are four options that provide different launch performances in different weight classes. The Kuro Kage Dual Core Black is a 60-gram weight class shaft with high launch. There is a Tensei AV Series Blue 70-gram weight class shaft with a mid-high launch. Then we have the HZRDUS Smoke Black 80-gram weight class shaft with a low-mid launch and the EvenFlow White 90-gram weight class shaft features low launch.

For golfers looking for speed and scoring performance in the long game, the Titleist TS2 and TS3 hybrids have what you’re looking. These golf clubs are hybrids you will love to hit and they are built to go and go long. Check back to TGW.com soon for your chance to pre-order yours.
