Titleist T100-S and T400 Irons Add to T-Series Line - The Golf Guide

Titleist T100-S and T400 Irons Add to T-Series Line

The Titleist T-Series irons are quickly becoming a favorite in most golfers’ bags. So it’s no surprise that Titleist has extended the line by offering even more options.

We recently talked with Corey Gerrard, Global Product Marketing Manager for Titleist, on their newest additions, the T100-S and the T400. Check out our Q&A below to learn more.

T100-S: Player’s Forged Distance Iron

TGW.com: What was the motivation behind the T100-S irons?

Corey Gerrard: After we launched the new T-Series, we heard from a lot of golfers who were excited about the T100, but wanted a stronger-lofted set. So our engineers redesigned each individual iron to give these players the stronger lofts and distance they’re looking for; all while preserving the performance of the forged shape and sole.

TGW: Appearance-wise, the T100-S doesn’t differ too much from the T100.

CG: Yes, the S has the same tour-level precision and signature forged construction as the T100. There’s also the dual cavity that gives players precision distance and control, while the co-forged dual-density tungsten provides stability.

TGW: What are the differences between the two irons?

CG: We kept the same tour shape with the thin topline, minimal offset, and enhanced camber as the T100, but we made the T100-S with a thinner, more responsive face to increase ball speed. The new iron was also designed with 2-degree stronger lofts to enhance carry distance throughout the set. This allows more speed and more distance without sacrificing the feel of forged irons.

TGW: What can customers expect with a standard set?

CG: The T100-S is available in 3-9 irons, a pitching wedge, and a W48. The stock shaft is the True Temper Project X LZ because it’s a mid-launch, low spin shaft that will enhance ball speed and launch.

T400: Maximum Distance and Forgiveness Iron

TGW: Let’s talk about the T400. A lot of golfers should be excited about this iron.

CG: Yes, these are our super distance, game improvement irons, but for more than just moderate swing speed players. The feedback from the T300 was that it was too small and too compact, so the T400 is larger to better fit these types of players. Golfers with moderate swing speed will absolutely get the most out of their swing with this iron, while getting the look, sound, and feel of a Titleist iron.  It’s a great fit for golfers who would play the TS1 driver.

TGW: Titleist calls the T400 the most forgiving Titleist experience possible. Why is that?

CG: This iron is designed to get the ball in the air and launch it as far as possible. It has an advanced split sole design and a wide body shape to provide optimal turf interaction, while the hollow head construction provides extremely high MOI for off-center shots.

Then, we added high-density tungsten weighting (up to 100g per head) to create a low CG, which works with the super-thin forged L-Face Insert to produce explosive launch off the turf.

TGW: What are the stock shafts and grip?

CG: The stocked T400 is available in the graphite Mitsubishi Fubuki MV IR shaft, or the steel True Temper AMT Red. Both come with the 43 gram Golf Pride Tour Velvet 360 Lite+. Of course, Titleist offers a number of custom shaft choices, many at no upcharge.

The T100-S is available for pre-sale starting March 12th and the T400 is available for pre-sale on February 27th. Both ship to your door on March 27th.
