Titleist created their T-Series irons to provide a complete set of options for every type of golfer. In order to give even more players a better fit, they created the T100-S irons. Made to fit the eye of the player’s iron golfer, the T100-S model features 2-degree stronger lofts than their T100 brethren. The entire package is designed to provide golfers with Tour-level shaping, signature feel, and enhanced distance.
Titleist T100-S Irons Review
Technology
The Titleist T100-S irons are fully-forged cavity back irons made to give golfers control, precision, and scoring prowess with every golf club. They feature the thinnest clubface Titleist produces, made from high-strength SUP10 material that enables them to create a thinner, faster face that generates more ball speed. As all golfers know, more ball speed equals more distance.
Titleist incorporated an average of 66 grams of tungsten in each iron in the T100-S set. Placed in the heel and toe of each club head, heavier tungsten weighting offers greater stability in a Tour performance iron. Not only are these irons more stable, but they also have 2-degree stronger lofts than the T100 model to increase distance.
Each iron also features an optimized center of gravity for better feel and fine-tuned performance in every club. Progressive blade lengths, sole widths, and hosel lengths place the center of gravity exactly where it needs to be. The Tour-refined shape of the T100-S irons includes less offset, a thinner topline, and a sole shape designed to make getting in and out of the turf easier on every swing.
Who It’s For
The Titleist T100-S irons fit in the players’ category and are made for the better golfer because of the thin shape and less offset. This helps locate the center of gravity more toward the shaft, making them a great fit for golfers who like to manipulate and control the shape of their shots. With the lofts being 2 degrees lower, golfers who are looking for a lower trajectory, less spin, and more distance will benefit from the T100-S design.
Performance
When testing the Titleist T100-S irons, we compared them to the results of our testing with the T100 irons. The clubs were tested by Rick Hatfield, head golf pro at Flint Hills National Golf club and TGW’s resident product expert. With the 2-degree stronger lofts, we noticed an increase in distance by about a half a club. Rick averaged around 163 yards of carry distance with the T100-S 7 iron compared to 157 yards with the T100 7 iron. We also saw around 300 rpm less spin with the stronger T100-S while the descent angle remained similar to help hold more greens.
Appearance
At address, the T100-S irons have a very thin topline and an overall shape you would expect from a Tour-level iron. The length of the blade from heel to toe is progressive as you move through the set, giving your eye the proper fit to each club as you move into the shorter irons and wedges.
Feel & Sound
The Titleist T100-S irons have a deep, resonating sound at impact that is consistent with the T-Series. They also have a solid feel that provides great feedback when you strike the ball. At address, they have a very thin topline and an overall shape you would expect from a Tour-level iron.
