When it comes to Tour-level golf balls, there is no shortage of choices on the market. All of the biggest names in golf, including Titleist, Callaway, TaylorMade, Bridgestone, and Srixon, all have golf ball offerings aimed at a premium level of performance. But is there a significant difference between them? Which ball is right for your game? To help answer those questions, TGW blind-tested 11 popular tour-level balls to see how they performed next to each other. The balls included:

  • Bridgestone Tour B RX
  • Bridgestone Tour B XS
  • Callaway Chrome Soft
  • Callaway Chrome Soft X
  • Srixon Z-Star 5
  • Srixon Z-Star 5 XV
  • TaylorMade TP5
  • TaylorMade TP5 X
  • Titleist AVX
  • Titleist Pro V1
  • Titleist Pro V1X

How We Did It

Each ball’s markings were covered and replaced with a number so they weren’t easily identifiable. Then, with the help of Rick Hatfield and Flint Hills National Golf Course, we gathered four avid golfers with a range of handicaps (0, 4+, 12, and 25+) to get an accurate representation of most players. Each of the customers were asked to hit the balls in various types of shots: off the tee, with their irons, with their wedges, and on the greens. They were then asked to score the ball based only on the performance and feel of every shot.

What were the results? Watch our video to see their feedback and to see how these golf balls performed against each other. Did your favorites stand up to the test?
