For 2022, TaylorMade continues revolutionizing its golf clubs through the use of carbon fiber. In the new TaylorMade Stealth fairway woods, that means an all-new 3D carbon crown that saves weight that moves elsewhere to further enhance the versatile performance of these golf clubs. There are two different models to choose from: Stealth and Stealth PLUS. TGW’s review team takes you inside the technology and provides you with exclusive videos of each one in action.

Technology
The TaylorMade Stealth fairway woods feature another unique piece of carbon construction. A 3D carbon crown pulls mass away from the high toe area, allowing more weight to be moved rearward for optimal forgiveness and maximum playability.
These fairway metals include a new Advanced Laser Alignment feature. This provides a vital contrast between the face and the crown. The laser-etched alignment aid is designed to highlight directional alignment for boosted confidence and accurate aim from any lie
Each club in this lineup features a refined weight distribution with TaylorMade’s signature V-Steel Sole. V-Steel’s heritage is in improving turf interaction and versatility while enhancing forgiveness and maintaining optimal launch through any type of ground.
Twist Face and the Thru-Slot Speed Pocket are back in the Stealth fairways as well. Twist Face corrective face angles provide added forgiveness in the areas golfers tend to mis-hit the ball the most by curving the club face to straighten out those shots. TaylorMade’s most flexible Speed Pocket design is engineered to maximize ball speeds and produce additional forgiveness on low-face strikes.
The Stealth PLUS model features a more compact, playable shape for skilled golfers. A 175cc head is meticulously shaped to meet the needs of the world’s best players while inspiring confidence for all skill levels. The face is now 12% larger than the SIM2 but maintains a similar size at address for enhanced playability and shot-making.
Performance
We tested the TaylorMade Stealth fairway woods with Rick Hatfield. Rick is TGW’s Master Fitter and our resident product expert. Our testing was conducted indoors at the TGW Pure Performance Center using Foresight Sports launch monitors.
First, Rick tested the TaylorMade Stealth fairway wood. For this test, Rick used the 3 wood with a loft of 15° and his swing speed averaged 99 mph. His average ball speed came in at 140 mph which is an ideal number for a 3 wood. Rick’s average launch angle was 12° and he had a low average spin rate at 2,633 rpm which together provided a mid launch with penetrating flight. All that added up to an average carry distance of 232 yards.
Then Rick tested the TaylorMade Stealth PLUS fairway wood. Rick was using the 3 wood with a loft of 15°. His average swing speed was 97.5 mph which is faster than normal for Rick with a fairway wood. Rick’s average ball speed was quite fast at 139 mph with an average launch angle of 13.5° and a super low spin rate of 2,337 rpm. With a more penetrating ball flight produced by the Stealth PLUS model, Rick averaged 232 yards of carry distance.
Who It’s For
The TaylorMade Stealth fairway wood is designed for every golfer on the course. They provide mid-to-high launch with mid-to-low spin with a neutral flight bias which makes them the perfect distance option for golfers of all skill levels.
The TaylorMade Stealth PLUS model is the best fit for a more skilled golfer who is looking to improve their long game distance by reducing spin.
Appearance
The TaylorMade Stealth fairway woods feature a sleek look with an all-black crown that looks powerful when set down by the golf ball. TaylorMade also utilizes red accents for a fast appearance that altogether fits the motif of Stealth.
Feel & Sound
The TaylorMade Stealth fairway wood models feel and sound incredibly responsive when you hit the golf ball. They provide a pleasing, powerful experience and glide through the turf for a smooth feel thanks to the V-Steel Sole.
