TaylorMade P-770 Irons Review

Technology

TaylorMade’s new P-770 irons start with a forged hollow body construction. This gives golfers the best of both worlds: a great-looking iron and incredible performance. A soft 8620 carbon steel body is paired with an incredibly thin forged 4140 steel face and Thru-Slot Speed Pocket for a design that is fast, flexible, and forgiving even in a compact head shape.

New for this edition of the P-770 irons is the FLTD CG design. FLTD CG strategically positions the center of gravity the lowest in the long irons and progressively shifts higher throughout the set. Using up to 46 grams of tungsten, FLTD CG is designed to provide golfers with improved launch and playability in the long irons and increased spin in the scoring irons.

An all-new version of TaylorMade’s signature SpeedFoam Air is 69% less dense than its predecessor, creating mass savings that are redistributed to improve performance. SpeedFoam Air dampens vibrations for improved sound and feel while delivering a faster, more flexible face.

Who It’s For

TaylorMade P-770 irons are made for highly-skilled ball strikers. Players who like the smaller size and workable shape of a blade but also appreciate built-in distance and some added forgiveness will gravitate toward the P-770 design. These golf clubs are designed for better golfers and could be played by someone with a 10-15 handicap, depending on skill set and consistent ball contact.

Appearance

The TaylorMade P-770 irons are small and compact, made to fit the eye of the more discerning golfer. They include a thin topline, less offset that you will notice at address, and a shorter blade length when compared to the previous P790 irons.

Feel & Sound

TaylorMade P-770 irons sound and feel solid. There is a pleasing softness from the steel material used in the construction. The SpeedFoam injected into the club head makes them feel great and lets you know when you make solid contact.
