PING G425 Hybrids Review: Versatile Long Iron Replacements with Consistent Performance

PING’s new G425 hybrids are designed to offer a level of consistency and distance to give you confidence in a long iron replacement golf club. Made to play more like the G425 fairway woods, these hybrids have explosive distance and much of the same technology in common. TGW has an exclusive video to see the G425 hybrids in action and our review gives you the inside story of the latest technology.

Technology

PING G425 hybrids come with a new face design called Facewrap. The thin, high-strength maraging steel material used in the face wraps around into the crown and the sole of the club head. This increases the flexibility of the face for faster ball speeds, longer distance, and higher launch.

PING also developed a new level of consistency they call Spinsistency. The face features a modified roll profile, especially low on the club face where the loft decreases. This helps normalize spin and increase ball speed for more launch. That is more than just consistency, that is Spinsistency.

They also placed a new 3-dot alignment system on the crown of the G425 hybrids. This visual cue makes it easier to align the ball to best fit your eye for the type of shot you want to hit. Each hybrid also includes a tungsten back weight designed to boost forgiveness and stability.

Performance

We put the performance of the PING G425 hybrids to the test with the aid of Rick Hatfield. Rick is the head golf pro at Flint Hills National Golf Club and TGW’s resident product expert. For our test, Rick used the 19° 3-hybrid with the PING Tour 85 stiff flex graphite shaft. Rick’s average club head speed during this test was 87-90 mph with a solid average ball speed of 130.9 mph. He launched the ball at around 16° with an average spin rate of 3,541 rpm. In total, Rick had an average carry distance of 201 yards. The landing on the shots hit with the G425 hybrids is also worth noting. The G425 hybrids hit the ball high enough to hold a green but land with a shallow enough angle to gain more roll out on the fairway.

Who It’s For

The PING G425 hybrids are designed to benefit golfers of all levels. There is plenty of distance and forgiveness built in to help game improvement golfers. These golf clubs are also workable and versatile for more skilled golfers to pull off every type of shot they need on the course.

Appearance

PING G425 hybrids are clean at address with a flat black crown that reduces distractions. The new 3-dot alignment system stands out and helps capture the ball without taking away your focus.

Feel & Sound

The feel and sound of the PING G425 hybrids are best described as solid. Both feel and sound are pleasing and powerful in a way that lets you know you made solid contact with the golf ball.

I’m sorry, currently we do not have the 7 hybrid in stock in the G425 hybrid.
