PING 2021 Putters Review: Soft, Responsive Performance and Stability for Every Golfer

PING has been a world leader when it comes to putters ever since Karsten Solheim first developed the revolutionary Anser. Since then, the golf club maker has been hard at work, creating high-performance putters for every golfer. PING’s 2021 putter lineup features 12 models, from blades to mid-mallets and larger mallets, to fit all players with soft feel, pure roll, and enhanced forgiveness. TGW’s review team takes you inside the technology and puts them to the test in our exclusive video.

Technology

The PING 2021 putters utilize a multi-material construction to optimize performance across every head shape. By using a unique combination of 17-4 stainless steel, aluminum, and tungsten, PING can increase MOI and forgiveness while optimizing the center of gravity location within each model to make them even more forgiving. The tungsten weights in the front heel and toe help keep every putter model stable, even if you don’t hit the ball directly in the center of the face.

PING 2021 Putters Dual Durometer Insert

The club face is made up of a dual-durometer insert. It features two layers of PING’s Pebax material to optimize performance on putts of all types. The front layer is softer to provide more precision on shorter putts. The back layer is firmer to give golfers greater distance control on longer putts.

Shallower grooves are made uniform all across the face insert. By using a shallow, consistent groove pattern, the new PING putters deliver consistent forward roll while maintaining soft feel on every putt.

These putters are available with the PING PP58 Pistol or PP60 midsize grip. The PING PP58 is a smaller, pistol-shaped grip that helps position the top hand naturally on the club, made with a rubber under-listing for softer response. The PING PP60 is a mid-sized, lightweight pistol grip with a foam under-listing and flat front to create more face awareness.

Performance

To test the performance of the new PING 2021 putter lineup, we took them to Rick Hatfield. Rick is the head golf pro at Flint Hills National Golf Club and TGW’s resident product expert. His first impression of these putters was that he loved the black finish. He felt that made the alignment line stick out and made these golf clubs easy to aim. Rick mentioned the soft, responsive feel was pleasing while he was able to control his distances on putts of all types. He also noted that the forward tungsten weights helped keep the club head stable and putts on the proper target line.
