Odyssey knows that the trick to making a putter more accurate, you have to reduce side spin on off-center hits. With the Odyssey Tri-Hot 5K putters, they achieved this by pushing the center of gravity forward and loading the club head with tungsten weight. The result is a blade putter unlike another, packed with forgiveness and stability with shapes designed for golfers who prefer the look of a traditional putter. TGW takes you inside this latest design.
Odyssey Tri-Hot 5K Putters Review by TGW
Technology
The Odyssey Tri-Hot 5K putters start with a front section milled from 303 stainless steel. This material helps provide each putter with a more forward center of gravity while allowing for a milled process that gets the shape and weight exactly right. This keeps putts closer to the original target line, with tighter dispersion, and a greater chance to go in on less-than-perfect contact.
Then Odyssey placed a massive amount of tungsten weight, more than 120 grams, behind the face in the heel and toe areas. This design moved the center of gravity farther forward for improved roll, while also increasing the moment of inertia rating to more than 5,000. That is a level of forgiveness that has never been seen before in a standard-sized blade putter.
They also included the original formula White Hot insert. The most popular insert of all time is back with the feel, sound, and performance golfers love.
Finally, these putters utilize a new generation of multi-material Stroke Lab shafts. By shortening the steel section, Odyssey reduced the weight by 7 grams compared to the original Stroke Lab model. They also made it stiffer and more stable for even more consistency in stroke and performance.
Performance
We tested the Odyssey Tri-Hot 5K putters with the help of Rick Hatfield. Rick is TGW’s Master Fitter and our resident product expert. Our putter testing was conducted indoors at the TGW Pure Performance Center using Foresight Sports launch monitors. During his time hitting these putters, Rick noted a couple key performance aspects. First was the feel of these putters. With the original White Hot insert formula, these putters felt soft with enough feedback to provide great control. Second was the forgiveness. These putters are extremely forgiving, especially for blades, thanks to all that added forward weight and balance.
Who It’s For
Odyssey’s Tri-Hot 5K putters are a great fit for golfers who prefer the look and performance of a blade but are also seeking more accuracy. There are 5 different models to choose from to fit all stroke types. Whether you take the putter straight back and straight through or you have some arc to your putting stroke, there is a Tri-Hot putter for every golfer who wants to experience forward weighting, forgiveness, and a soft feel.
Appearance
The Odyssey Tri-Hot 5K putters feature a smoke finish that reduces glare and looks sleek down by the golf ball. Each putter is also a blade model, varying in width, with traditional alignment aids for the purist.
Feel & Sound
The feel and sound of the Odyssey Tri-Hot 5K putters are soft and consistent on every putt. Most golfers have likely hit a putter with a White Hot insert and know the signature feel. These putters feature the same formula for the original White Hot insert so you can expect a soft, consistent feel and muted sound every time you are on the green.
