Used Golf Clubs Buying Guide

Used golf clubs are a great way to save money, fill out your set, or try something new with little risk to your wallet. There are multiple reasons golfers look for used golf clubs. Whether you want to save a little money, try something different, find something for a beginner, or buy a club you wish you wouldn’t have gotten rid of, TGW has everything you need.

Why Buy Used Golf Clubs

  1. Value – The number one reason players choose used golf clubs is value. When you buy used, you can upgrade your golf clubs to newer models and updated technology without blowing your budget. This is a great way to get something new in the bag with less risk to your wallet.
  2. Beginners clubs – Oftentimes, those looking to get started in golf with buy used clubs as their first clubs. While some of this can be attributed to saving on cost once again, you also have to consider how golfers learn the game. Nobody picks up their first clubs and immediately starts hitting them perfect. There will be mis-hits. Many beginning golfers don’t want to risk the quality of new, more expensive golf clubs.
  3. Trying something new – There are plenty of golf club junkies among us that have to try out the latest and greatest designs. Picking up a used version of this year’s driver or putter is a cost-efficient way to try something new, see if it sticks in your bag, and round out your collection.
  4. Treasure hunting – Whether you’re looking for a golf club you regret getting rid of or searching for a classic model from your favorite brand, shopping used clubs is a great way to find what you are looking for. Not only can you find that long lost golf club, but you can also get a great deal on it as well.

What To Look For

  1. Condition – The first and most important thing to note is the condition of the used clubs. At TGW, there condition guide (below)  tells you what shape the clubs in. Used clubs will have some blemishes but will all be playable. See the next section for a full explanation of TGW’s ratings.
  2. Set composition – Because used clubs inventory is determined by clubs that are returned, make sure to note club composition. If you are looking for irons, see which clubs are included in the set or if they are single clubs. If you are looking for fairway woods or hybrids, note which club is listed, whether it is a 3 wood, 4 hybrid, etc. to fit what you are looking for.
  3. Shaft and grip – Just like picking new clubs, you will want to make sure the shaft and grip match what you prefer. Used golf clubs can be re-gripped fairly cheap if they happen to be worn.
