Titleist T300 Irons Review by TGW
Technology
Titleist T300 irons pack performance into every detail, starting with a new variable thickness face. In the long and mid irons, the face is thinner toward the heel and gets thicker as you move out toward the toe. This thinner area makes the fact hotter and faster in what is traditionally one of the least effective impact points on the club face. So even when you mis-hit the ball, you get maximum performance.
Behind the cavity badge is Titleist’s improved Max Impact Technology. An enhanced polymer core improves both the efficiency and feel of the T300 irons. That means faster ball speed and better feeling impact every time you hit the golf ball. There are also additional dampening properties in the club head for even better sound and feel.
Titleist also increased the amount of tungsten weight in each club head by 40%. They used a more dense D18 tungsten to help optimize the center of gravity location for precise launch and spin performance as well as enhanced forgiveness by placing extra weight where you need it to make the club head more stable.
Performance
We put the Titleist T300 irons to the test with Rick Hatfield, TGW’s Master Fitter and product expert. For this test, Rick hit the 7-iron with a loft of 29° and his average swing speed of 83 mph. Rick’s average ball speed was 117.4 mph which means the club face on the T300 irons is very hot. These also delivered the high launch Titleist promised with an average launch angle of 21.3°. With an average spin rate of 5,150 rpm and a steep descent angle, he would have no problem holding the green with these clubs. In total, Rick averaged 171 yards of carry distance with this club.
Who It’s For
The Titleist T300 irons are best fit for game improvement golfers. Mid to high handicap players who are looking for technology to help make the game easier and improve the quality of their shots even when they don’t make their best swing will benefit most from this design. The T300 irons are made for players who want high launch, long distance, and forgiveness they can rely on swing after swing.
Appearance
The Titleist T300 irons are a mid-size iron with a cavity back. They feature a premium chrome-plated finish so they look great to match their performance. Their overall shape is thicker and they are a little wider from heel to toe. The T300 irons set up square behind the ball and do not have a ton of offset.
Feel & Sound
During our test, Rick described the feel and sound of the Titleist T300 irons as phenomenal. The ball jumps off the face with such speed and smooth impact that you barely even feel it. The sound is best described as a high, sharp crack that is very pleasing when you strike the golf ball.
