Titleist T200 Irons Review by TGW
Technology
The Titleist T200 irons are made with a multi-material hollow body designed to make these golf clubs as powerful as possible. Their forged SUP10 L-face design is thinner than ever with a higher COR rating which means more speed and more distance in your long game. An enhanced polymer core improves both the efficiency and feel of the T200 irons so they play fast while feeling great.
Titleist used more dense D18 tungsten weighting in the T200 irons so they could concentrate more mass to precisely locate the center of gravity in each club head. With this weight, they can fine-tune the performance of each club throughout the set so you get fast, high-launching long irons with accurate, forgiving short irons.
The chassis of the T200 irons are made with 17-4 stainless steel. An engineered muscle plate caps off the back of the multi-material club head for two specific benefits. First, this material precisely tunes the sound and feel for irons that are more pleasing to hit. Second, this frees up more weight which Titleist spreads from heel to toe in the form of maximum tungsten weighting.
Performance
We put the Titleist T200 irons to the test with Rick Hatfield. Rick is TGW’s Master Fitter and our resident product expert. For our review, Rick was swinging the 7-iron with a loft of 31°. His average swing speed on this way was 82 mph. With that swing speed, Rick averaged an incredibly fast 116 mph so the T200 irons are hot. His average launch angle was 19.4° so he had no issues getting the ball in the air with these clubs. These irons posed no issues holding the green thanks to an average spin rate of 5,210 rpm and a steep descent angle. All told, Rick averaged 168 yards of carry distance with this iron.
Who It’s For
Titleist T200 irons are a great fit for low to mid-handicap players who put a premium on feel and compact shape. Golfers who want help with distance but do not want to sacrifice looks, feel, trajectory, control, and stopping power will be drawn to the T200 model.
Appearance
With the T200 irons, Titleist says that sleek looks meet stunning distance. That is an accurate description of the appearance of these golf clubs. The T200 irons have a narrow topline and thinner sole along with a shorter blade length and the same minimal offset as the T100 irons.
Feel & Sound
Rick described the feel and sound of the Titleist T200 as explosive during our test. With all the power and technology packed into the compact club heads, the feel and sound are pleasing in a way that truly lets you feel how much power these irons have.
