The holiday season has come again and everyone is excited to celebrate. It is time to count what you are thankful for as we put another year and golf season in the history books. At TGW’s Golf Guide, we thought we would have a little fun and list a few things we are thankful for this year in the world of golf.
TGW’s Wichita Pure Performance Center
New for this year is the TGW Wichita Pure Performance Center. For those local to our hometown of Wichita, Kansas, this new facility is a must-visit. Our Master Fitter has more than 29 years of experience to help you find the custom options that will work best for your exact specifications. With our experienced staff and latest technology, we’ll get you the clubs you need to take your game to the next level. To see everything the performance center has to offer, make sure you check out all the details and see how it works.
Phil Mickelson Still Getting It Done
We are thankful for one of the best stories in golf this year. Phil Mickelson is still getting it done and achieving greatness. At the age of 50, his victory at the 2021 PGA Championship makes him the oldest player to win a major. Long-burdened with the title of “best player to never win a major”, Lefty has made an incredibly successful career for himself and to see him still performing at a high level is a reminder of what makes golf so great. Golf is a game that can be played for many years once you pick it up and Phil is a great testament to that.
A New Feud For A New Era
Nothing adds a good dose of excitement to the game of golf like a good rivalry. Golf has had its share of great ones: Arnie vs. Jack, Tiger vs. Phil, Faldo vs. Norman. We have a new one brewing and it might not be as friendly as some of the others. We are talking about Brooks vs. Bryson. The rivalry between Koepka and DeChambeau has been heated. It is clear these two are not each other’s biggest fans. They put their differences aside in a Ryder Cup victory and will square off this weekend in the fifth iteration of The Match. Getting these two together makes this event a must-see for your holiday weekend.
Golf’s Growing Popularity
The popularity of this game we love is on the rise once again. According to the National Golf Foundation, 2% more people played golf in 2020 compared to 2019. That is the largest year-over-year increase in 17 years. That trend continued through 2021 as this summer saw more rounds being played once again. As the world took on a different look the past two years, golf offered a welcome reprieve. It is a chance to get outside, enjoy nature, log some exercise, and socialize safely. Here’s to growing more players to the game of golf in years to come.
Most of all, we are thankful for you, TGW’s loyal customers and readers. Leave us a comment and share what you’re thankful for in the world of golf this year!
It can be very nice to just get out there. Fresh air, sunshine, friends, and more. A great game for the entire family. The game keeps growing for good reason.
