TaylorMade Stealth 2 Driver Review

TaylorMade is building on the success of their Stealth line with the introduction of the Stealth 2 drivers this year.  Featuring the original 60X Carbon Twist Face, the Stealth 2 includes a Carbon Composite Ring, which united the driver head into a singular force, freeing up mass and delivering more forgiveness. The Stealth 2 driver is available in three different models: the Stealth 2, the Stealth 2 Plus, and the Stealth 2 HD.

Technology

Stealth 2 Driver
Every Stealth 2 driver features the original 60X Carbon Twist Face, which optimizes energy transfer for faster ball speeds. The new face design also has an advanced version of Inverted Cone Technology (ICT) to help maintain ball speed on off-center strikes and increase forgiveness. It weights 24g and is designed to have an expanded COR area for a larger sweet spot and boosted performance across the entire face.

With the advanced ICT and the corrective tendencies of Twist Face, these drivers are meant to maintain ball speed and accuracy on off-center strikes. The lightweight full-carbon body allows TaylorMade engineers to strategically place weight for optimal launch and forgiveness.

The Stealth 2 Plus driver has the addition of a 15g sliding weight track to help golfers control shot shape and create the desired ball flight. While the HD driver has a high draw design to promote a corrective flight.

Who It’s For

All Stealth 2 drivers are designed to provide players with maximum MOI and forgiveness, while providing distance due to high launch and low spin.

If you’re looking for the most attunable driver model, the Stealth 2 Plus is perfect for golfers who want to finetune the trajectory they are looking for. The Stealth 2 HD driver is for players looking for higher launch and draw bias to help reduce misshits to the right.

Appearance

The TaylorMade Stealth 2 drivers feature a sleek look with an all-black crown that looks powerful when set down by the golf ball. One thing that stands out in the appearance of these TaylorMade drivers is the red accents. That includes the red club face. TaylorMade’s carbon fiber face and nanotexture cover are red and look different than any driver out there today.

Feel & Sound

The TaylorMade Stealth 2 drivers sound and feel explosive when you hit the golf ball. Some may expect that the carbon fiber face may sound and feel a little muted when compared to a standard titanium driver face. We discovered that was not the case at all and the sound and feel performance will make you think you are not hitting a carbon fiber face at all.
