TaylorMade SIM2 Max Rescue Review by TGW
Technology
The SIM2 Max rescue golf clubs feature TaylorMade’s new V-Steel design. This unique sole design redistributes weight in order to enhance forgiveness while keeping the center of gravity low. Depressed heel and toe sections improve turf interaction, making these rescues more versatile.
The face is made from super-strong C300 steel to create a faster club face for explosive distance. It also features Twist Face curvature to boost forgiveness.
TaylorMade also included their signature Thru-Slot Speed Pocket in the SIM2 Max rescues. This design is more flexible than ever to help maximize ball speed and provide more forgiveness on shots hit low on the club face.
Performance
We tested the TaylorMade SIM2 Max rescue with Rick Hatfield. Rick is the head golf pro at Flint Hills National Golf Club and TGW’s resident product expert. His average swing speed with this golf club was 93.5 mph with an average ball speed of a rather impressive 135.2 mph. Rick launched the ball at 14° and an appropriate average spin rate of 3,724 rpm. In total, we saw an average carry distance of 206 yards.
Who It’s For
The TaylorMade SIM2 Max rescue is a good fit for any golfer. It is built for speed, distance, and versatility. There is plenty of forgiveness for the game improvement golfer with technology like Twist Face in an easy-to-hit design. These clubs are also validated on Tour. Some of the best golfers in the world trust the workability and towering ball flight these golf clubs provide.
Appearance
Just like the rest of the metalwoods, the TaylorMade SIM2 Max rescues look sleek and fast. With the same visual cues as the drivers and fairway woods, the contrasting black of the carbon fiber crown and face offset with white accents helps frame the ball and these drivers sit square at address.
Feel & Sound
The TaylorMade SIM2 Max rescue feels and sounds solid. With carbon in the crown, the sound is a bit more muted than similar golf clubs however still has a metallic sound to it thanks to the V Steel sole.
