TaylorMade P770 Irons Review
Technology
Even with their compact shape, the TaylorMade P770 irons are loaded with distance and forgiveness technology. It starts with a forged hollow body made from carbon steel which is combined with a wrap-around forged 4140 face. Then that hollow club head is filled with TaylorMade’s signature SpeedFoam injection process. The ultra-light urethane foam is injected inside each head to bring the speed of the club face up to the legal limit while also improving the feel of each shot.
To increase forgiveness, every iron in the P770 set includes up to 46 grams of tungsten designed to place more weight in the perimeter areas of the club. This makes each club more stable and more forgiving. TaylorMade also included their signature Speed Pocket on the sole of the P770 irons to further boost forgiveness and maximize ball speed, especially on shots hit lower on the face.
Finally, their patented progressive Inverted Cone Technology is strategically placed in each iron at a specific location that improves accuracy. This design also protects ball speed all across the face so you get maximum speed even if you don’t quite hit dead center on the club face.
Who It’s For
TaylorMade P770 irons are made for highly-skilled ball strikers. Players who like the smaller size and workable shape of a blade but also appreciate built-in distance and some added forgiveness will gravitate toward the P770 design. These golf clubs are designed for better golfers and could be played by someone with a 10-15 handicap, depending on skill set and consistent ball contact. “This iron is made for the player who likes a more compact iron but has an appreciation for forgiveness and built-in distance,” said Chandler Carr of TaylorMade during our interview.

Appearance
The TaylorMade P770 irons are small and compact, made to fit the eye of the more discerning golfer. They include a thin topline, less offset that you will notice at address, and a shorter blade length when compared to the P790 iron.
Feel & Sound
TaylorMade P770 irons sound and feel solid. There is a pleasing softness from the steel material used in the construction. The SpeedFoam injected into the club head makes them feel great and let you know when you make solid contact.
