Srixon ZX7 Driver Review: Speed and Power with Added Adjustability

Srixon ZX drivers are built with the same goal in mind as their newest irons: speed. These golf clubs are designed to maximize distance for all players and to boost your play even during competition. Everything within the design of the ZX7 driver is concentrated on producing power at impact so you can hit the ball farther and more accurately off the tee with the ability to adjust and customize your ball flight. Read TGW’s review to learn all about that technology and see them in action in our exclusive video.

Srixon ZX7 Driver Review

Technology

The Srixon ZX7 driver has a new key technology called Rebound Frame. Based on the law of physics that says energy can neither be created nor destroyed, Srixon set out to focus that energy in the most efficient way possible. Rebound Frame is more than just a new face design. It consists of alternating flexible and rigid zones, starting with the face, to create more speed and transfer more energy into the golf ball. The face is considered the first flex zone which is then surrounded by a stiffened perimeter. Then a layer of flexible material separates the inner rib structure to create the final two layers.

In place of a metal crown, Srixon uses a carbon fiber weave that is 15% larger than what was used in previous driver models. This allows more mass to be moved low, deep, and around the perimeter of the club head in order to increase the MOI rating of the driver and create more forgiveness.

Finally, the ZX7 design allows you to adjust and dial in your preferred performance. Two movable rear weights in the club head allow you to swap for your preferred shot shape, course set up, or when you want to try something new.

Performance

We tested the performance of the Srixon ZX7 driver with the help of Rick Hatfield, head golf pro at Flint Hills National Golf Club and TGW’s resident product expert. Rick used the 9.5° driver and was swinging it at an average of 99.5 mph. With that swing, he produced an average ball speed of 144.3 mph and an average spin for 2,474 rpm which is appropriate with the driver. Overall, Rick hit the ZX7 driver an average of 247 yards in carry distance and found it easy to hit straight.

Who It’s For

The Srixon ZX7 driver is best fit for the golfer who wants to adjust their settings and shape their shot. Players who want a more penetrating flight without hitting the ball too high and want to control the shape of their shot to fit what they need will benefit most from the ZX7 design.

Appearance

The Srixon ZX7 driver features a more symmetrical design in a Tour-inspired shape. It has a flattened crown and elongated skirt on the back of the head. At address, the rear of the club head has a more rounded appearance.

Feel & Sound

The Srixon ZX7 driver sounded and felt very solid at impact. It produced a powerful sound that provides confidence that you are hitting longer drivers.
