Srixon Updates Z Series With Z85 Golf Clubs

The new Srixon Z85 golf clubs are here and they are all about evolution. This year’s release features a full family of golf clubs: two drivers, the Z585 and Z785, a fairway wood, the F85, a hybrid, the H85, a utility iron, the U85, and two irons, the Z585 and Z785. We talked with the product experts at Srixon to tell you what’s new with this year’s golf clubs.

Z85 Woods

Srixon developed their latest Z Series woods in partnership with their professional tour staff to make the fastest, longest, most workable clubs yet. Their dedicated following of serious golfers will be impressed with their new technology packed into these golf clubs, offering an unprecedented level of performance in the long game.

Golfers will notice the biggest changes in the driver options. Those changes begin with a new titanium face. The bigger you can make a club face, the more it can flex. That flexibility is what increases ball speed and helps propel the ball at impact. Srixon increased that flexible face area by stretching the face across the crown and sole of their drivers. Since that makes the club face thinner, they used a new premium titanium called Ti51AF. It is 8% stronger and lighter to give you the explosiveness you need at impact.

In an effort to make these clubs even lighter and faster, they now include a five-layer carbon crown. They have lowered the density by 65% for even more weight savings. That saved weight is moved to the perimeter of the club head to increase the heel-toe stability. This increase in forgiveness makes all the difference on shots where you don’t quite hit it dead-center.

There are two driver options to choose from: the Z585 or the Z785. The Z585 driver is considered the more forgiving option. It features a bigger profile with a higher launch angle. The shape and weighting of this driver promote higher, straighter drives with added forgiveness on off-center strikes. It is the ideal option for golfers who want to play a high quality driver with more forgiveness. The Z785 driver is the “tour look, tour feel, tour performance” option. It delivers the lower spin, penetrating trajectory that better golfers want off the tee. It also features an adjustable hosel where the Z585 driver does not. This is the driver for better golfers, lower handicap players, who want more control and workability off the tee.

The F85 fairway wood and H85 hybrid option have a lot in common with their larger, off-the-tee brethren. With the new Z Series, Srixon has created their longest, most forgiving fairway woods. They have a thinner, hotter club face made out of steel instead of titanium like the drivers. A stepped crown lowers the center of gravity to provide higher launch and more distance in a versatile package. The 3 wood and 3+ wood options even feature the carbon crown of the drivers to boost forgiveness with added weight in the perimeter of the club head. Z Series hybrids are also longer and more forgiving thanks to the stepped crown. Both the F85 and H85 feature a larger profile that’s easier to hit for more versatility in your long game.

Z85 Irons

Much like the woods in this family, Srixon tapped into the knowledge and feedback of their professional tour staff when developing these irons. The result was two sets of irons and a new utility iron option, built to perform on tour as some of Srixon’s best-looking and highest-performing yet.

The Z585 irons are the distance iron in this group. Srixon developed a milled Speed Groove on the face insert of these irons. This internal channel allows the face to flex even more, to enhance ball speed and increase distance. The body of the 585 irons is forged from soft 1020 carbon steel for outstanding feel at impact. Their signature Tour V.T. sole got an upgrade as well, giving you consistent shots with smooth turf interaction, including a wider sole on the long irons for added forgiveness. Z585 irons are for golfers who want more help with distance to make the game that much easier.
Next, the Z785 irons are the enhanced workability irons. They are made in a compact players shape that looks like a blade at address with updated weighting for maximum versatility and shot-shaping ability. Extra mass is placed behind the impact location with the Tour Cavity design to enhance the playability of these clubs. Srixon forges the 785 irons from a single billet of soft 1020 carbon steel for unbelievable feel at impact. They’ve also included the updated Tour V.T. sole for even more consistency and versatility. The 785 irons are more of the players iron. These are perfect for golfers who put a premium on feel and want more workability to create the shot they need on the golf course.
Finally, for the golfer looking for enhanced forgiveness in their long irons, Srixon developed the U85 utility iron. They have a forged 1020 carbon steel body and high-strength SUP10 face just like the 585 irons. However, these clubs are completely hollow inside to give you unmatched control of your long irons with forgiveness and a higher trajectory. The iron profile at address boosts confidence with a clean look that golfers will love from the fairway or off the tee. There are five club options, 2 iron through 6 iron, all available separately, designed to fill any hole you have in your set.
