Scotty Cameron Super Select Putters Review by TGW
Technology
Every model in the Scotty Cameron Super Select putters line is milled from a solid block of 303 stainless steel. With its legendary soft feel and consistent sound, 303 stainless steel is the gold standard for putter materials. Cameron chose to make the Special Select putters from this material to bring this signature line of golf clubs back to its roots of solid sound and feel with classic looks.
The greatest innovation in these new putters is the dual-milled face technology. Combining the legendary softness of deep-milled putters with the feedback and roll of mid-milled offerings, Cameron’s new dual-milled face technology brings tour-inspired feel to a new level.
A new, precision sculpted I-beam neck gives each model an industrial look but also allow for the removal and targeted repositioning of weight from the neck to the heel and toe of the putter head. This, coupled with a strategically placed notch on the models with plumbing necks—positioned for precise lie adjustments—and Scotty’s larger signature milled dots in the pocket, allowed additional weight to be meticulously redistributed for improved performance.
Cameron’s Super Select putters feature his signature performance balanced weighting system as well. Customizable weights in the sole tune each putter’s performance and feel to each specific length of the golf club. The overall weights of the head are unchanged but the heel and toe weights now make up more of that weight. Tungsten weights are used in the blades and stainless steel weights are used in the mid-mallets. Shorter putters have heavier weights while longer putters have lighter weights to properly balance performance. More weight in the heel and toe of each putter creates a larger sweet spot and makes the putters more stable on off-center strikes.
The soles of the Super Select putters have been redesigned as well. Each blade model is made with what Scotty Cameron calls the soft tri-sole design. This sole shape helps the putter ground itself properly to give golfers the proper setup at address from the moment the putter is placed behind the ball. The mid-mallet and Plus models feature a 6061 aluminum sole plate instead of the tri-sole design to further enhance the proper weighting of each putter.
Appearance
The Super Select putters are incredibly pleasing to the eye as is tradition with Scotty Cameron putters. They sit nice and square at address. Sleeker lines and classic construction make these golf clubs aesthetically pleasing to match their signature performance.
Feel & Sound
Just like other Scotty Cameron putter designs for Titleist, the Super Select line feels very solid. You can feel when you hit the sweet spot or hit out on the heel or in on the toe. They feel very responsive and provide great feedback on your putts. Compared to previous models that featured an aluminum face, the stainless steel milled face feels softer and provides more response and feedback with every swing.
