In 2019, Scotty Cameron and Titleist revealed the Phantom X family of putters. The Phantom X collection replaced the Futura line and was built around three key areas: design, alignment, and performance. Now, there are 4 new models for 2021. Based on the same technology, these new golf putters take your game on the green to the next level. Get the inside story on this highly advanced design and see them in action in TGW’s exclusive video.
Scotty Cameron Phantom X Putters Review by TGW
Technology
The Scotty Cameron Phantom X putters start with a next-level design. Inspired by fast cars, fighter jets, and feedback from touring pros, the mid-mallet shapes are compact and high-tech with sharp, alignment-promoting angles with soft-sculpted contours that appear to melt into the ground. The putter never appears “stuck” behind the ball, allowing you to make a smooth, confident stroke every time.
Within those shapes and angles, Cameron engineered next-level alignment. New flange setups, wider toplines, and Tour-validated alignment options are built into every Phantom X putter. The 2021Phantom X models feature traditional alignment with a single alignment line to mark the sweet spot.
Finally, what would a Scotty Cameron and Titleist line of golf putters be without next-level performance? Phantom X putters use solid aircraft aluminum milled faces to provide a softer feel and multi-material construction distributes weight where you need it for more stable, forgiving performance to take your game to a new level. The use of 303 stainless steel perimeter weighting makes the club more stable and resists twisting on putts struck off-center
Performance
To test the performance of the Scotty Cameron Phantom X putters, we took them to our friend Rick Hatfield. Rick is the head golf pro at Flint Hills National Golf Club and TGW’s resident product expert. During our testing, Rick noted that these putters feel and sound great and it only gets better over time. He mentioned that they set up perfectly behind the golf ball and aimed better without worrying about the putter opening or closing. Rick performed well with these putts, noting that the versatility in the alignment aids made it easy to set the club head up square behind the ball and hit your target line every time.
Who It’s For
The Scotty Cameron Phantom X family of putters is a great fit for all golfers. With a variety of head shapes, alignment aids, and shaft bends, there is a putter in this lineup to match every player. Whether you like extra alignment or minimal help, have an arc in your putting stroke or take the club straight back and straight through, there is a Phantom X putter model for you.
Appearance
Scotty Cameron Phantom X putters are all compact mallets or mid-mallets. They feature soft lines and sculpted contours for an appearance that flows down from the topline into the ground. This gives these golf clubs a distinct look that is smooth and fast, inspired by fast cars and jets. The new models have one difference in appearance over the 2019 versions. This year’s putters have a single alignment line while the 2019 models have three alignment dots on the top.
Feel & Sound
Because of the milled faces on the Phantom X putters, the feel and sound are solid at impact. They produce a satisfying click with responsive feedback when you strike your putts. During testing, Rick also noted that they feel better over time so the performance you get when hitting putts only gets better the more you use these golf putters.
