Technology

PING made the new iCrossover hybrid iron with a lower center of gravity than previous utility iron models. The result is more energy transferred to the golf ball impact for faster ball speed and more distance. You also get higher launch angles and steeper descent angles for more stopping power on those long-distance shots into the green.
The iCrossover also features a maraging steel face. This type of steel is stronger, allowing for a thinner, hotter club face that increases speed and launch for greater distance. This latest Crossover utility iron has a smaller internal cavity as well. PING utilizes an EVA polymer inside that cavity to improve feel by dampening vibrations.
Finally, the iCrossover features an adjustable hosel with Trajectory Tuning 2.0 technology. Eight loft and lie settings allow you to optimize ball flight for the type of shots you are trying to hit with this new golf club.

Performance

We tested the PING iCrossover hybrid iron with the help of Rick Hatfield at the TGW Pure Performance Center. Rick is TGW’s Master Fitter and product expert. For our test, Rick hit the 3 crossover with a loft of 20°

Rick’s average swing speed for this test was 90 mph. This helped produce an average ball speed of 130 mph. His average launch angle was 15°, good for a long iron like this, and he produced an average spin rate of 3,600 rpm. In total, Rick averaged 206 yards of carry distance.

Who It’s For

The PING iCrossover hybrid iron is a great fit for highly skilled golfers who prefer more control and workability in their long game. To meet player preferences, this utility iron is designed to blend the performance of a hybrid with the look and workability of an iron.
