Technology
The key to the performance of the Odyssey TEN putters lies in the head shapes. Odyssey’s TEN head shape is a squared, high-MOI mallet that helps you frame the ball and remain stable on those putts where you do not hit the center of the face. For the first time, Odyssey also has TEN putters with their signature 2-Ball alignment system. Overall, the head shapes are sleeker and more forgiving, providing more options for golfers to pick the alignment system that best fits their eye.
Every TEN putter in this lineup utilizes Odyssey’s signature Stroke Lab shaft. The Stroke Lab shaft is slightly stiffer and has less torque compared to a standard putter shaft to provide better control over the slightly heavier head. It also features a tip-heavy design which saves 40 grams of weight that is relocated to provide smoother performance. This version is also 7 grams lighter overall and is more stable to provide consistent tempo to your putting stroke.
This family of putters uses a variety of alignment technologies across their models so golfers can choose the one that best fits them. The standard TEN models come with a single alignment line down the center. The 2-Ball TEN putters come with the standard 2-Ball shape as well as the 2-Ball shape with an alignment line added. For players who want maximum alignment, Odyssey offers each model in a Triple Track version. Their signature Triple Track Alignment on the top of the putter uses three lines for a better, more consistent alignment that is intuitive to the eye.
Finally, Odyssey uses their Microhinge Star face insert in the TEN putters. This insert is firmer while maintaining true forward roll and enhancing the sound at impact
Performance
To test the performance of the Odyssey TEN putters, we took them to Rick Hatfield so he could putt with them. Rick is the head golf pro at Flint Hills National Golf Club and TGW’s resident product expert. He remarked that these putters set up square to the target and made it easy to align the ball. Rick was a big fan of the Triple Track Alignment feature as well. He felt that the TEN putters were consistent, accurate performers during testing and added stability that will make them more forgiving when a golfer does mis-hit a putt.
