Nike – most popular 10 states

Nike, known for its roots in sports performance and style, seems to resonate with golfers in the South, as it stands out as the most popular brand across the U.S., but especially in southern states like Arkansas, Georgia, Mississippi, Texas, and Virginia. Unsurprisingly, it also comes in as the top brand in Oregon, its home state.

New Balance – most popular in six states

The popular shoe brand is clearly a fan favorite in the Northeast, claiming the top spot in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Maryland, among other states. It has been a go-to for golfers looking for the right pair of shoes that offer comfort and reliability.

PGA TOUR – most popular in four states

Coming in at the fourth spot is PGA TOUR. Unlike some of the other brands, it doesn’t have a strong regional trend but does stand out in places like Florida and South Carolina where professional golf events are a major draw.

Wilson – most popular three states

Golfers in Illinois, North Carolina, and Tennessee seem to favor Wilson, a brand known for its range of quality equipment across many different sports. That widespread appeal and brand recognition could explain its presence in these states with diverse golfing communities. Its headquarters being located in Chicago also makes the Illinois connection a clear one.

The most popular golf accessory overall is an important one to pack every time you head out the course — at least, for people who don’t want blisters and sore hands for a few days after the round. Leading the charge in both the Northeast and the West, golf gloves are the top-searched accessory in states from California to New York, showing us how essential a comfortable, reliable grip is.

Golf Balls – top-searched in 16 states

Golf balls, the single most important accessory in your bag besides maybe a club, take the second spot overall. They’re most often searched for in the Midwest and South, specifically in places like Alabama, Ohio, Minnesota, and Texas. We aren’t suggesting that golfers in these states need to stock up on balls because they lose them so often, but there has to be some reason they’re searching for them online so much.

Golf Club Headcovers and Golf Ball Markers – both top-searched in four states

While not as often sought-out as gloves or balls, two other staples of a well-stocked golf bag also make several appearances in our list of the most popular golf accessories: headcovers and ball markers. Offering protection from scuffs and other damages, headcovers keep your clubs in good shape and extend their lives. They’re the top-search accessory in places like Arizona and Mississippi while ball markers, a must for anyone who’s playing with friends, are an important accessory in states like Idaho, New Mexico and Vermont.

Golfers clearly have their favorite accessories, whether it’s for comfort, performance, or keeping their equipment in top condition. From gloves to headcovers, each piece plays a role in enhancing the overall game experience.

To determine the most popular golf accessories and brands in every U.S. state, we compiled two separate lists: one of 20 golf accessories that most players would want to have with them on the course, and one of over 100 brands that sell products golfers use (we later whittled that list down further to just ones that produce golf clubs).

We then analyzed the regional interest of the accessories and brands on our lists using Google Trends search data from October 2023 to October 2024. Finally, we compared the search interest of each to find the most popular golf accessories and brands in every state. We used high search interest as an indicator of popularity for this study.
