Technology

For the first time ever in an iron, Mizuno utilizes their MAS1C steel face. Generally reserved for Mizuno’s fairway woods, this high-speed face material is used in the Fli-Hi hybrid iron to deliver more ball speed and powerful distance for your long game.

That unique steel club face is only the first piece of a complex, multi-material construction. Mizuno created this iron with a 431 stainless steel body that is extremely bendable making it easy to accommodate customization. A 21-gram tungsten weight is included in each club head to help produce a consistent, reliable ball fight.

To finish it off, Mizuno included their signature Harmonic Impact Technology, or H.I.T. Mizuno engineers spend a lot of time modeling sound and vibrations to produce the best-feeling and sounding golf clubs they can. Everything in the Pro Fli-Hi hybrid iron is designed to produce the most satisfying sound possible at impact.

Performance

We tested the Mizuno Pro Fli-Hi hybrid iron with the help of Rick Hatfield. Rick is TGW’s Master Fitter and resident product expert. For this test, Rick used the 4 iron with a loft of 21.5° and his average swing speed was 88.6 mph. His average ball speed was 126.6 mph with a smash factor of 1.43 which is quite high for a long iron replacement. Rick’s average launch angle with this club was 14.5° and an average spin rate of 4,013 rpm. Overall, Rick averaged 195 yards of carry distance with the 4 iron.

Who It’s For

Mizuno’s Pro Fli-hi hybrid iron is designed for a golfer who wants a golf club that is easier to hit and launch than a traditional long iron. The player who still prefers the look of an iron and wants a more penetrating ball flight will prefer this type of golf club over a traditional hybrid.
