Mizuno Pro 225 Irons Review by TGW
Technology
Mizuno Pro 225 irons are made from 4135 Chromoly material using Mizuno’s signature Grain Flow Forged process. This is what gives these irons that soft, solid, and consistent feel with a unique, high-strength material for faster ball speeds and more distance.
These irons are made with a hollow body construction. The hollow club head provides the ultimate combination of high speed, more forgiveness, and a solid feel when you hit the golf ball.
The 2 through 7 irons feature a heavier 28.5-gram tungsten weight placed low and deep in the club head. This added weight helps improve launch in the long and mid irons where golfers need it the most.
Mizuno’s multi-thickness CORTECH face and a slightly wider cambered sole are time-tested on Tour for performance golfers of all ability levels can trust.
Performance
We put the Mizuno Pro 225 irons to the test with Rick Hatfield, TGW’s Master Fitter and resident product expert. Testing was conducted using the 7 iron and Rick’s average club head speed was 84.5 mph. He saw an impressive average ball speed of 114 mph and a slightly lower trajectory with an average launch angle of 17.6°. His average spin rate was 5,368 rpm. That all added up to the extra distance promised by the Mizuno Pro 225 irons with an average carry distance of 165 yards.
Who It’s For
Mizuno Pro 225 irons are a great fit for golfers who prefer the look of a traditional golf iron but are seeking some game improvement performance from their irons. If you are a traditionalist who needs a little help with your game, especially if you are looking for more distance, this iron is a good fit for you.
Appearance
Mizuno’s Pro 225 irons feature a bit larger than their Mizuno Pro counterparts while boasting more of a cavity back look. A full satin brush finish looks sophisticated while reducing glare down by the golf ball.
Feel & Sound
The sound and feel of the Mizuno Pro 225 irons are unmistakably Mizuno. They are soft and responsive with a pleasing sound engineered through extensive research. Under the finish of these clubs, Mizuno includes a soft copper underlay that makes them feel even better when you hit the golf ball.
