Cobra LTDx irons feature a revolutionary new design that is different to its very core. The PWR-COR that is. Their construction features a multi-layer PWR-COR weighting system that lowers the center of gravity and promotes maximum flex of the body, sole, and face for peak ball speed and distance. TGW’s review team takes you inside the design and shows you how they stack up in our exclusive video.
Cobra LTDx Irons Review by TGW
Technology
Cobra LTDx irons feature a lower center of gravity thanks to the new PWR-COR Technology. The multi-layer PWR-COR weighting system features a steel core bar that is suspended within a polymer injected casing. This design promotes maximum flex of the body, face, and sole at impact creating an elastic rebound effect that delivers powerful ball speed.
Each iron also features a PWRSHELL face design. The forged face cup design increases ball speed across a wider area on the club face so you get maximum speed and distance even when you don’t hit the exact center of the face.
Cobra included speed-tuned tungsten weighting to get the stability of the LTDx irons just right. An 8-gram toe weight enhances stability and can be adjusted down to 2 grams and up to 14 grams to dial in swing weighting for custom orders.
Performance
We tested the Cobra LTDx irons with the help of Rick Hatfield. Rick is TGW’s Master Fitter and our resident product expert. Our golf irons testing was conducted indoors at the TGW Pure Performance Center using Foresight Sports launch monitors with a 26.5° 7 iron.
Rick described the performance of these irons as “through the roof.” His average swing speed clocked in at 84 mph, producing an average ball speed of 118 mph. Rick’s average launch angle was 16° for a more penetrating trajectory, paired with an average spin rate of 4,839 rpm. Overall, Rick averaged 174 yards of carry distance with the 7 iron.
Who It’s For
Cobra’s LTDx irons are game improvement irons. They are best fit for players looking for distance and forgiveness. These golf clubs are built for speed and distance as well as being loaded with forgiveness for the mid to high handicap player.
Appearance
The Cobra LTDx irons have great bag appeal with a smoked-out chrome finish along with black accents for a striking look. At address, these golf clubs have a thicker topline as a game improvement club.
Feel & Sound
The Cobra LTDx irons feel incredibly solid at impact. Rick even compared the sound and feel of these irons to that of a forged club. We found these aspects to be pleasing for all golfers.
