How do you turn fairway woods into pure distance machines? The answer for Cobra was easy: load them with the same technology as the driver! Cobra LTDx fairway woods utilize the latest PWR-COR and H.O.T Face technologies along with their signature versatility to bring distance and speed to the masses. TGW’s review team takes you inside these three models and shows you how they perform in our exclusive videos.

Technology
Cobra LTDx fairway woods are their fastest, most forgiving yet thanks to PWR-COR Technology. A PWR-COR weighting system consisting of steel, titanium and aluminum positions mass low and forward to combine low spin with faster ball speed for maximized distance.
Also new in this year’s fairways is the H.O.T Face Technology. H.O.T stands for Highly Optimized Topology. This unique design uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to create Cobra’s hottest club face. It utilizes 15 HOT zones with strategic thicknesses to increase smash factor and ball speed across a wider area of the face.
A new lightweight carbon crown frees up even more discretionary weight in these golf clubs. The new material is thinner and frees up more weight to improve the center of gravity and MOI for more stable performance.
Cobra’s signature Baffler Rails are included in a progressive manner. The 3 woods do not feature rails to account for a more sweeping motion often used with that specific golf club. The 5 and 7 woods feature pronounced rails to improve turf interaction for steeper swings.
Each LTDx fairway model has a unique weighting system. The LTDx standard model features a fixed 8-gram back weight to enhance forgiveness and promote a higher ball flight. The LTDx LS model has adjustable weighting with a heavy and a lighter weight (12g and 3g) that can be positioned in the heel or the toe right behind the club face to promote a fade-biased or draw-biased flight. The LTDx Max version also has two adjustable weights with a heavy 12-gram weight and a lighter 3-gram weight that can be positioned in the back or the heel to fine-tune the ball flight to be more neutral or draw-biased.
Performance
We tested the Cobra LTDx fairway woods with the help of Rick Hatfield. Rick is TGW’s Master Fitter and our resident product expert. Our golf fairway testing was conducted indoors at the TGW Pure Performance Center using Foresight Sports launch monitors with a 3 wood in each model.
First up was the Cobra LTDx fairway wood. Rick’s average swing speed for this test was 100 mph which is faster than he traditionally swings a club like this. His average ball speed was 140 mph with an average launch angle of 12° and spin rate of 2.764 rpm. With a more penetrating ball flight, Rick averaged 231 yards of carry distance with this model.
Next, we tested the Cobra LTDx LS fairway wood. With this edition, Rick’s average swing speed was 97 mph which produced an average ball speed of 139 mph. He saw a little bit lower launch with an average angle of 11.4° to go with some extremely low spin with an average of 2,536 rpm. That penetrating ball flight added up to an average carry distance of 223.7 mph but that penetrating flight will give you plenty of extra distance on rollout.
Last up was the Cobra LTDx Max fairway wood. Rick’s average swing speed with this club was 99 mph, an increase from around the 95 mph he usually gets with a 3 wood. His average ball speed increased as well at 142.3 mph. The average launch angle during this test was 12.3° with a slightly higher spin rate at 3,620 rpm. Overall, Rick averaged 225 yards of carry distance and had a shot pattern an average of 30 yards left of center so this golf club was plenty long and loaded with draw bias.
Who It’s For
The Cobra LTDx fairway wood is the all-around performance model in the lineup. It is made for pure distance, high launch, and straight ball flights and will fit the majority of golfers on the course.
The Cobra LTDx LS fairway wood is fit for players seeking low spin and workable ball flights. This model is designed with the Tour player and more skilled amateur player in mind.
The Cobra LTDx Max fairway wood model is designed for the golfer who needs extra forgiveness in the form of slice correction. This option has all the speed and distance of the LTDx version with additional weight in the heel for a greater draw bias.
Appearance
It wouldn’t be Cobra if they didn’t provide golfers with eye-catching options for their clubs. The LTDx fairway woods are available in two different color schemes. You have the choice of a matte black crown with gold accents or a gloss peacoat blue crown with red accents. Both colorways offer a premium, sleek look down by the golf ball that sets up square and inspires confidence.
Feel & Sound
The Cobra LTDx fairways feature a solid but slightly muted feel thanks to the carbon material used in the crown. The sound is not as resonating as other golf clubs. Rick also noted that these fairway woods felt lightweight and easy to swing.
