Cobra LTDx drivers are their fastest, most forgiving yet and it all starts with PWR-COR Technology. A PWR-COR multi-material weighting system consisting of steel, titanium and aluminum positions mass low and forward to combine low spin with faster ball speed for maximized distance.

Also new in this year’s driver models is the H.O.T Face Technology. H.O.T stands for Highly Optimized Topology. This unique design uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to create Cobra’s hottest club face. It utilizes 15 HOT zones with strategic thicknesses to increase smash factor and ball speed across a wider area of the face.

Cobra carried over a couple of their signature high-performance features from previous driver editions as well. A multi-material chassis uses lightweight carbon crown and sole plates, and a reinforced Titanium Speed Frame to create optimal weight distribution for maximum stability. The updated CNC Infinity Face design wraps around the leading edge to increase the zone of maximum ball speed while providing a traditional topline for improved visual alignment.

Each of the three models features a unique weighting system. The LTDx model features 15 grams of back weighting (10g fixed weight and a 5g tungsten weight) to enhance forgiveness and promotes a higher ball flight. The LTDx LS option features adjustable weighting with a heavy and a light weight (10g and 3g) that can be positioned in the heel or the toe near the face to promote a fade-biased or draw-biased flight. Finally, the LTDx Max driver features adjustable weighting with heavy and a light weight (10g and 3g) that can be positioned in the back or the heel to promote a neutral or draw-biased flight.

Performance

We tested the Cobra LTDx drivers with the help of Rick Hatfield. Rick is TGW’s Master Fitter and our resident product expert. Our golf driver testing was conducted indoors at the TGW Pure Performance Center using Foresight Sports launch monitors.

First, we tested the Cobra LTDx standard model. Rick was using the 9° option with an average swing speed of 103 mph which is 2-3 mph faster than Rick normally swings his driver. His average ball speed was 147.8 mph with an average launch angle at 14° and spin rate of 2,628 rpm. With a high trajectory, Rick averaged 245 yards of carry distance. However, we then adjusted the club down to 7.5° to better fit Rick’s attack angle and noticed some interesting results. His ball speed jumped up to 150 mph and, with spin reduced even more, he averaged 259.2 yards of carry distance.

Next, we tested the Cobra LTDx LS driver. Rick again used the 9° model and his average swing speed during this test was up to 102 mph. His ball speed average clocked in at 149.5 mph. The LS model performed as advertised with a lower spin rate of 2,079 rpm. With an average launch angle of 12° and a penetrating trajectory, Rick averaged 253 yards of carry distance.

Finally, we tested the Cobra LTDx Max driver. Rick’s average club head speed was again higher at 102 mph which led to a faster average ball speed of 147 mph. With a high launch of 15.4° and average spin rate of 2,944 rpm, Rick totaled an average of 247.1 yards of carry distance.

Who It’s For

The Cobra LTDx driver is the all-purpose model of the lineup. It features the ideal balance of front and back weighting, making it playable for all golfers that want the ultimate combination of low spin and stability.

The Cobra LTDx LS driver is designed for Tour players and highly skilled amateurs who want low spin, fast speed, and the ability to shape their shots off the tee. Forward-biased heel and toe adjustable weighting helps lower spin while a back weight adds forgiveness.

The Cobra LTDx Max driver is the dedicated draw-biased model, designed for golfers who want to correct a slice. Loaded with all the distance and forgiveness of the standard model, the Max driver adds a heel weight for more draw bias.

In Cobra’s signature way, the LTDx drivers are available in two different color schemes. You have the choice of a matte black crown with gold accents or a gloss peacoat blue crown with red accents. Both colorways offer a premium, sleek look down by the golf ball that sets up square and inspires confidence.

Feel & Sound

The Cobra LTDx drivers feature a solid but slightly muted feel thanks to all the carbon material used in the creation of the club head. The sound is not as resonating as other drivers as well.
