Cobra’s KING F7 Junior driver has a lot to offer young golfers, as well as their parents.
For starters, from a technology standpoint, it has everything that Cobra provides in its regular F7 driver, an extensive list that starts with the use of a lightweight TeXtreme Carbon crown.
By saving weight in constructing the crown, Cobra is able to move the CG low and deep in the clubhead, which produces high launch, low spin rates, and increased impact stability.
Also of note, there are three weight ports in the sole of the club that can be used to help players achieve their optimal launch condition, ball flight, and trajectory.
More specifically, by placing the heaviest weight in the forward position spin is reduced to encourage a flatter trajectory. Placing the heaviest weight in the back position, meanwhile, delivers higher launch and increases MOI, and a draw bias can be produced by moving the heaviest weight to the rear, heel position.
The F7 also features Cobra’s new forged 8-11 Titanium E9 Clubface, which utilizes a variable face thickness design approach to increase ball speeds from all impact points for more distance.
Additionally, Cobra’s MyFly8 adapter enables eight different loft and lie combinations, including three draw settings, without compromising face angle, and the 460cc clubhead has been designed with a larger overall footprint to improve forgiveness and promote confidence at address.
And finally, Cobra’s revolutionary COBRA CONNECT technology is also included with the F7 Junior driver.
Powered by Arccos, COBRA CONNECT gives players stat-tracking capability through the use of a sensor that has been embedded in the butt end of the grip. It pairs easily with a smartphone to track distance, fairways hit, longest drives, and other data that can then be shared with friends via social media.
While all of those features are great for junior golfers who are considering the F7, it’s important to note that this is also a driver that provides parents with great value.
Most notably, by registering their F7 Junior driver with Cobra, players are eligible for one free shaft upgrade whenever needed. And that’s important because as young players grow and develop their skill level on the course they will likely need a different shaft to accommodate an improved swing and physical maturation.
Additionally, the moveable weight technology in the F7 clubhead will enable juniors to make the adjustments needed in their driver to continually optimize spin, ball flight, and trajectory as their games evolve.
“The club can work with you over the course of that junior’s career,” said Tom Olsavsky, Cobra Vice President of Research & Development.
Cobra F7 Junior drivers are available at stock lengths of 39, 41, and 43 inches and can be adjusted for lofts ranging from 10.5 to 13.5 degrees.
The stock shaft is the Fujikura Fuel Junior and the available free upgrades that players can choose from when the time is right include a longer junior shaft at 41 or 43 inches, a 44.25-inch women’s shaft, or a 45.75-inch senior flex men’s shaft.
The stock grip, meanwhile, for the F7 Junior driver is the Cobra Lamkin REL with the Arccos sensor.
