Cleveland Launcher XL Lite Driver Review – Speed and Distance Boosted for Moderate Swing Speeds

When Cleveland created their new Launcher XL line of golf clubs to make the game of golf easier and more fun, their goal was to do so for all players. That is why they created the Cleveland Launcher XL Lite driver. This driver features an extra-large head, a massive sweet spot, and a super-lightweight design for golfers with more moderate swing speeds. TGW’s review team tested it out and you can see the results in our exclusive video.

Technology

The Cleveland Launcher XL Lite driver begins with the largest, most forgiving club head they have ever made. This bigger footprint allowed Cleveland to increase perimeter weighting for even more stability and their highest-ever MOI rating in a driver. There is also more weight low and deep in the club head to produce a high launch and maximum distance to go along with that added accuracy.

Cleveland then used their signature Rebound Frame design in this new driver. The Launcher XL Lite uses a flex zone in the face and a second flex zone in the body with a rigid zone in between them. This technology directs more energy into the golf ball at impact to increase ball speed and distance.

This driver also includes their counterbalanced design. Cleveland’s Action Mass CB uses an 8-gram weight in the end of the grip to keep the golf club light and under control on your backswing. When you start your downswing, this counterbalanced weight keeps the club on a square path to make you more accurate.

Cleveland utilized a few different methods to make this driver even lighter. They removed the adjustable hosel to save extra weight. Then they used a lighter shaft to make the Launcher XL Lite driver 12 grams lighter. It is also 0.25” longer for faster swing speeds. It is also available in a women’s version and a draw-biased version to help golfers of all kinds.

Performance

To test the performance of the Cleveland Launcher XL Lite driver, we enlisted the help of Rick Hatfield. Rick is TGW’s Master Fitter and product expert. Rick’s average swing speed during this test was 101 mph, a little faster than his normal swing speed thanks to the lighter club design. His average ball speed was 143 mph and his average launch angle was a high 14°. He averaged 2,818 rpm of spin and achieved a slightly higher average peak height at just more than 100 feet. All together, Rick’s average carry distance with this driver was 244 yards.

Who It’s For

Cleveland’s Launcher XL Lite driver is designed for golfers who are looking to launch the ball higher with greater distance, control, and forgiveness. This model is specifically made to produce maximum distance and speed for golfers with more moderate swing speeds.
