Technology

Callaway Rogue ST Drivers Tungsten Speed Cartridge

Callaway Rogue ST drivers feature another breakthrough in weighting technology. The new Tungsten Speed Cartridge structure places a specific amount of weight, which varies depending on the model you choose, low and deep in the club head. Its purpose is to increase speed on off-center strikes and boost MOI for incredible levels of forgiveness.

Callaway’s signature Jailbreak Speed Frame technology makes its return for another year. Using artificial intelligence to get the design just right, the patented Jailbreak Speed Frame offers exceptional stability with a construction, shape, and position that delivers maximum ball speed all across the club face.

A new artificial intelligence formula in the face further enhances performance as well. As the industry leader in Artificial Intelligence, Callaway added enhanced launch and spin to the already outstanding ball speed in their newest optimization formula. This new formula lowers spin on the face, allowing engineers to add more forgiveness and stability to each driver.

Callaway engineers created a different type of body for these drivers using a titanium unibody construction to pair with the Triaxial Carbon crown and sole areas. The titanium unibody construction offers stability and a lower center of gravity while the Triaxial Carbon crown and sole save weight that is repositioned to produce higher launch and a slight draw bias.

Each Callaway Rogue ST driver model comes equipped with the Opti-Fit hosel to give golfers more control over launch and trajectory with added adjustability.

Performance

We tested the Callaway Rogue ST lineup of drivers with the help of Rick Hatfield. Rick is TGW’s Master Fitter and our resident product expert. Our golf driver testing was conducted indoors at the TGW Pure Performance Center using Foresight Sports launch monitors.

First, we tested the Callaway Rogue ST Max driver. Rick’s average club head speed during this test was 101 mph which produced an average ball speed of 147 mph. Using the 9° model for this test, Rick achieved an average launch angle of 12° with a low spin rate of 2,400 rpm. With a penetrating trajectory and shallow descent angle, Rick averaged 248 yards of carry distance with this driver. On average, his drives were 14 yards left of center, producing a slight amount of draw bias in the standard Rogue ST Max model.

Next up was the Callaway Rogue ST Max D model. With this driver and his average swing speed of 101 mph, Rick noted an average ball speed of 146 mph. Again using the 9° model, Rick notched a little bit higher launch angel with an average of 13° and a bit higher spin with an average of 2,600 rpm. With a touch higher trajectory and a shallow descent angle, Rick averaged 244 yards of carry distance with the Max D driver. He also averaged a shot pattern that was 25 yards left of the center line so this golf club comes packed with draw bias.

Then Rick tested the Callaway Rogue ST Max LS driver. With his average swing speed of 101 mph, Rick achieved an average ball speed of 145 mph with this model. For this test, Rick had the 10.5° driver adjusted down to 9.5°. His average launch angle was 13° and he notched an average spin rate of 2,200 rpm. The Max LS model also produced a penetrating trajectory and shallow descent, all adding up to an average of 248 yards of carry distance.

Who It’s For

Callaway Rogue ST Drivers Flash Face

The Callaway Rogue ST Max driver is the all-around performance model, built for all levels of golfers. This driver features the best combination of distance and forgiveness in a Callaway driver.

The Callaway Rogue ST MAX LS driver is built for lower spin than its counterparts. It features a more neutral ball flight, more workability, and lower spin compared to the other Rogue ST drivers. It is a great fit for mid to low handicap golfers.

The Callaway Rogue ST MAX D is made for golfers who want maximum forgiveness and draw bias. This model features a reduced face progression, more upright lie, and extra heel weighting that the other models don’t, in order to correct a slice.

The Callaway Rogue ST Triple Diamond LS driver is a low-spin option for highly skilled golfers in a Tour-proven profile. It is the lowest spinning of the 4 Rogue ST drivers and features a smaller head with neutral to fade bias that the other drivers don’t.

Appearance

Callaway Rogue ST Drivers at address

Callaway’s Rogue ST family of golf drivers feature a sleek black appearance. Similar to some previous models, the mostly black color scheme is offset with gold accents both on the crown and in the form of the Tungsten Speed Cartridge. These drivers are made to look fast and match their performance off the tee.

Feel & Sound

The Callaway Rogue ST drivers feature a feel and sound that are typical to Callaway drivers. If you have tried out any of the Callaway drivers from the past few years, you will recognize the powerful feel and responsive feedback you get when you hit the golf ball.
