For the first time in their golf irons, Callaway used their artificial intelligence technology to create a ground-breaking level of performance. The Callaway MAVRIK irons are the first irons to feature Flash Face technology. With their unique computer-created design, the face of each iron is different to provide the specific performance golfers need with each loft. Combine that innovation with their signature Face Cup they use on their irons and these golf clubs give you long, consistent distance.
These irons are more than just distance. Callaway uses their urethane microspheres to enhance the feel of the clubs without slowing down the face. Every iron also features a custom tungsten weight placed specifically to optimize launch and trajectory specific to each loft. There are three models available: MAVRIK, MAVRIK Max, and MAVRIK Pro, designed to provide a set of MAVRIK golf irons to every type of golfer. See them in action in our exclusive video reviews.
Callaway Mavrik Irons Review
The Callaway MAVRIK irons are the standard-bearer for the irons lineup. They feature a forgiving cavity back shape and fit the majority of golfers. MAVRIK is your standard performance package. Flash Face Technology with Face Cup, the Tungsten Energy Core, and urethane microspheres combine to make these irons fast, far, and forgiving.
Who It’s For
Callaway MAVRIK irons are a great fit for the golfer who wants to maximize distance and forgiveness. These are game improvement golf clubs so players who need more help in those categories will benefit most from this set of irons.
Performance
The Callaway MAVRIK irons are incredibly hot. Our product expert saw an increase of around 4 mph in ball speed when compared to his current 6 iron. That produced a distance increase of around 10 yards with a 6 iron when swung at around 90 mph. We saw a medium to lower trajectory with a peak height of around 70 feet and some extra roll out to add distance.

Callaway Mavrik Max Irons Review
The Callaway MAVRIK Max irons are the first special performance package that Callaway includes in the MAVRIK lineup. Their Max irons are made for even more game-improving performance. The Max performance package features a larger, confidence-inspiring shape, wider sole, and lower center of gravity all designed to be more forgiving, launch higher, and carry the ball longer.
Who It’s For
The Callaway MAVRIK Max irons are ideal for golfers who are looking for maximum forgiveness and distance with higher ball flight. With a larger shape, these are an oversized game improvement club designed to give the most distance and forgiveness while making it easier to launch the ball in the air. For players who tend to miss to the right, the Max irons do feature significant amounts of offset.
Performance
Callaway MAVRIK Max irons are built for distance and our testing showed just that. Our product tester saw an increase of around 5 yards in distance with the 8 iron over his current club. Ball speed was only slightly higher but the lower spin rate and higher launch angle produced solid elevation and descent angle to gain distance and hold greens. All in all, we saw about a half-club extra distance with MAVRIK Max.

Callaway Mavrik Pro Irons Review
Callaway MAVRIK Pro irons are the players’ version of the MAVRIK irons. The Pro performance package is built around all the things that better golfers prefer in their golf irons. The club head is more compact, the topline is thinner, and there is less offset in each club. All the things skilled golfers like are packed into the MAVRIK Pro irons along with Callaway’s signature technologies like Flash Face Technology with Face Cup, the Tungsten Energy Core, and urethane microspheres.
Who It’s For
Callaway MAVRIK Pro irons are the MAVRIK set for the more skilled golfer. With a more compact head, thinner topline, and less offset, they have a player-preferred design that better golfers love. The more workable look of the MAVRIK Pro irons will appeal to skilled players.

Appearance
Callaway MAVRIK irons are a little bit larger game improvement clubs and you will notice that right away. It is oversized, down by the ball it does have a little bit thicker topline and the overall size of the club is larger. That does inherently make these irons more forgiving. They do have a clean look as expected from Callaway and do inspire confidence with the size at address.
Feel & Sound
The MAVRIK irons had a soft feel for a game improvement iron. Sometimes, oversized irons sacrifice some feel for the extra distance and forgiveness but the MAVRIK irons do not compromise on feel. The sound was not muted or too “twangy” as our product expert described it. It’s a pleasant feeling and sounding option for this year.
Callaway Mavrik Hybrids
Callaway’s MAVRIK hybrid golf clubs are made to be pure distance machines. There are three models to choose from, just like the irons: MAVRIK, MAVRIK Max, and MAVRIK Pro. Each model shares the same core Callaway technologies. Every hybrid has a specific, fully-optimized Flash Face design to bring every golf club up to the legal limit of ball speed. That means you hit the ball faster and farther, every time. To protect that ball speed, Callaway included their Jailbreak Technology and Face Cup design just like in their metalwoods. It’s all done in the name of fast speed and long distance where you need it. Watch the three models in action and see how they stack up against last year’s Epic Flash in our exclusive video reviews.

Callaway Mavrik Max Hybrid Review
Just like the irons, the Callaway MAVRIK Max hybrid features a special performance package designed to enhance the playability of these golf clubs for game improvement golfers.
