Callaway’s use of artificial intelligence in the MAVRIK fairway woods ushers in a new era of highly-specialized, fine-tuned performance for golf clubs. MAVRIK represents the next phase in Callaways’ Flash Face Technology. A new artificial intelligence architecture and face design create a specific, optimized version of the face for every individual fairway wood. This means the face on the 3 wood is specific to the 3 wood and is different from the 5 wood.
Flash Face Technology uses a specific pattern of ridges with varying thickness in optimum places of the club face to maximize ball speed no matter where you make contact. The fairways are offered in three models: standard, Max, and Sub Zero models. All three feature Flash Face and Callaway’s signature Jailbreak Technology to get the most speed and distance out of each club. Callaway Mavrik Fairway Wood Review
While the fairway woods are built with similar technologies to the drivers such as Flash Face and Jailbreak, they achieve their performance goals in slightly different ways. The MAVRIK fairway wood includes Callaway’s Cup Face technology now made with an incredibly-strong C300 maraging steel for fast ball speed on every shot, even when you don’t hit it dead center. There is no adjustability in the MAVRIK fairway as well. They are designed to aim, put a solid swing on the ball, and find new distance by letting the technology do the work.
Who It’s For
The Callaway MAVRIK fairway wood fits into the bag of most golfers and those who are searching for more distance. This model has no adjustable features. It is loaded with Callaway’s latest performance technology to allow golfers to focus on putting their best swing on the golf ball and allowing the technology to do the work. The majority of golfers will benefit from this type of performance.
Performance
Our testing showed a great improvement in overall distance with the Callaway MAVRIK fairway wood when compared to last year’s Epic Flash model. The new Mavrik produced less spin and more ball speed, adding up to a total of 18 more yards. Swinging the club confirms that the MAVRIK is a great improvement over previous models so golfers looking for more distance from their fairway woods will be interested in this one.

Callaway Mavrik Max Fairway Wood Review
Callaway also designed a MAVRIK Max fairway wood for the game improvement golfer. These fairway woods are longer from heel to toe and feature a shallower face that promotes clean, consistent contact. Just like the MAVRIK Max driver, interchangeable 14 and 2-gram weights in the heel and back of the head give golfers control over forgiveness and draw bias by putting weight where it is needed to boost forgiveness.
Who It’s For
The Callaway MAVRIK Max fairway wood is the game improvement option in the MAVRIK family. It offers maximum playability and forgiveness. The MAVRIK Max fairways are larger than the standard model and features interchangeable weights that allow golfers to create draw-biased weighting that eliminates a slice. For golfers who want maximum forgiveness and slice correction in their fairway wood, the MAVRIK Max fairway wood is the choice.
Performance
The Callaway MAVRIK Max fairway wood also produced more distance when compared to previous clubs. Faster club head speed, faster ball speed, and incredibly low spin produced a piercing trajectory and more roll out. When we put the heavier weight in to the heel of the club, we saw about 14 yards of draw bias so if you miss to the right, you will have the ability to hit the MAVRIK Max fairway wood farther and straighter.

Callaway Mavrik Sub Zero Fairway Wood Review
Rounding out the MAVRIK fairway wood lineup is the MAVRIK Sub Zero. Just like its driver counterpart, this fairway is made for the players’ category who swings fast, wants to reduce spin, and likes to play a more compact club. It has interchangeable 14 and 2-gram weights in the front and back of the sole designed to provide more control over spin and trajectory.
Who It’s For
The Callaway MAVRIK Sub Zero fairway wood is the player-preferred option in the MAVRIK line. It features a smaller profile and interchangeable weights that allow golfers to optimize launch and spin. For golfers who want more control and the ability to shape and work their ball flight, the Sub Zero fairway wood is the best option for them.
Performance
Consistent with the rest of the MAVRIK line, the Sub Zero model showed a noticeable increase in distance. Our tester added 2 mph of club head speed and 3 mph of ball speed with a little bit less spin. That all produced 10 yards more carry and 13 yards total more distance when compared to the previous Epic Flash Sub Zero model.

Appearance
The first thing you notice about the Callaway MAVRIK fairway woods is the burnt orange color scheme. It is different than other Callaway models when it comes to graphics. In the past we’ve seen shades of green in the Epic Flash and blue with Rogue. Callaway also made significant changes on the sole of the club. The structure and shape looks cleaner and more aerodynamic than previous fairway woods. From above, the MAVRIK golf clubs are clean looking with black carbon fiber in the crown and a signature Chevron to aid in alignment.
Feel & Sound
With the Callaway MAVRIK fairway woods, our product expert again described the sound and feel as purely Callaway. Contact is crisp and sounds solid. You can feel the ball on the face with good response and you know when you have hit the golf ball flush. That experience is satisfying and golfers of all levels will appreciate the sound and feel of a MAVRIK fairway wood.
