Technology

The Callaway Apex Pro 21 hybrids are made with an all-new version of their signature Jailbreak Technology. New for 2021 is the A.I.-designed Jailbreak Velocity Blades. These new structures increase the stiffness of the club near the sole to produce more speed low on the club face where golfers most commonly mis-hit their hybrids. These blades also allow the face to flex more on the crown for more consistent spin. Then the bars are spaced out to reduce twisting for greater forgiveness.

Callaway also employs their Flash Face technology in the Apex Pro 21 hybrids. Every club face on every model is made with advanced artificial intelligence that is proven to increase ball speed and distance with optimized performance all on shots hit all over the face.

The club face in the Apex Pro hybrids is forged from high-strength 455 Steel. This forged steel is incredibly strong and flexible, pairing with Callaway’s Face Cup design to produce consistent speed and spin no matter where you hit the ball on the face.

Performance

We tested the performance of the Callaway Apex Pro 21 hybrids with Rick Hatfield, head golf pro at Flint Hills National Golf Club and TGW’s resident product expert. For our test, Rick hit the 4 hybrid with an average swing speed of 91 mph. His average ball speed was 124.4 mph with a solid high launch of 18.5°. Rick’s average spin rate with the Apex Pro was 4,714 rpm. Overall, Rick averaged 183 yards of carry distance with this hybrid with plenty of spin and height to hold a green.

Who It’s For

Callaway’s Apex Pro 21 hybrid is a players’ golf club. It is made for skilled golfers who are looking for consistent ball speeds and distances. Players who want to have more control over shot shape and distance with predictable, repeatable results will be the best fit for the Pro model hybrid.

Appearance

The Callaway Apex Pro 21 hybrids are designed to look more like an iron at address. The compact club head and fixed hosel offer a more traditional appearance down by the golf ball for more skilled players who prefer the look of their long irons but want more versatility.

Feel & Sound

At impact, the Callaway Apex Pro 21 hybrids feel very sharp. They also sound more like a metalwood with a sharp crack as well.
