Callaway Apex irons are synonymous with forged performance and created the players’ distance category of golf clubs. Now Callaway introduces the Apex 21 irons. These irons are made to continue that legacy for forged performance while doing it in an all-new way: loaded with technology never used before in a forged Apex golf club. TGW has the inside story on the latest design as well as an exclusive video so you can see them in action.

Technology
The Callaway Apex 21 irons are the first forged Apex iron to include their signature A.I.-designed Flash Face Cup. Each club face has a specific architecture created by artificial intelligence to produce high ball speed and more robust spin in each specific loft. This creates explosive distance and pinpoint control all over the face, even when you do not hit the golf ball on the sweet spot.
Callaway also employs their Tungsten Energy Core for the first time in an Apex iron. Each Apex 21 iron is loaded with five times more tungsten than the previous model. This added weight helps precisely position the center of gravity in each iron for improved launch and added forgiveness on off-center hits.
Callaway’s Apex 21 irons are 100% forged from 1025 mild carbon steel. In addition to using this soft material, Callaway included their patented urethane microspheres to improve sound and offer an even softer feel without slowing down the club face. The shape of the heel has also been refined to offer a better feel when going through the turf.
Performance
We tested the Callaway Apex 21 irons with the help of Rick Hatfield. Rick is the head golf pro at Flint Hills National Golf Club and TGW’s resident product expert. This test was conducted using the 7-iron with Rick’s average swing speed at 84 mph. He achieved an incredibly consistent ball speed of 114.3 mph and an average spin rate of 5,701 rpm. That spin was just a little bit higher than previous Apex irons. Overall, Rick averaged 161 yards of carry distance with the 7 iron and that number was extremely consistent with a deviation of only plus or minus 3 yards on each shot.
Who It’s For
Callaway Apex 21 irons are made for a skilled segment of golfers. Those players who like a compact player’s iron but still want all the distance they can get will love the Apex 21 models. There is even added forgiveness in this generation of Apex irons that can benefit more golfers.
Appearance
Callaway Apex 21 irons are clean, compact golf clubs that fit the look of a players’ iron. A thin topline frames the ball and is pleasing at address. The shape of these golf clubs inspires confidence in skilled golfers that they can create any shot they need with distance and forgiveness built-in.
Feel & Sound
The Callaway Apex 21 irons feel soft yet solid. The forged 1025 mild carbon steel construction and the inclusion of Callaway’s urethane microspheres make these irons feel soft and pleasing when you hit the golf ball. Solid sound also lets you know you made solid contact.
