Technology
The Callaway Apex 21 hybrids feature an all-new version of their signature Jailbreak Technology. New for this year is the A.I.-designed Jailbreak Velocity Blades. These new structures increase the stiffness of the club near the sole to produce more speed low on the club face where golfers most commonly mis-hit their hybrids. These blades also allow the face to flex more on the crown for more consistent spin. Then the bars are spaced out to reduce twisting for greater forgiveness.
Callaway also employs their Flash Face technology in the Apex 21 hybrids. Every club face on every model is made with advanced artificial intelligence that is proven to increase ball speed and distance with optimized performance all on shots hit all over the face.
There is also additional tungsten weighting in the Apex 21 hybrids. Callaway uses tungsten to precisely locate the center of gravity in every club to promote higher launch and off more forgiveness on off-center shots. You can also fine-tune your ball flight with the adjustable hosel.
Performance
We put the Callaway Apex 21 hybrids to the test with the help of Rick Hatfield. Rick is the head golf pro at Flint Hills National Golf Club and TGW’s resident product expert. We used the 3 hybrid for this test. Rick’s average swing speed during the test was 93 mph. He produced an impressive ball speed at an average of 132 mph with a spin rate of 3,304 rpm. All together, Rick averaged 208 yards of carry distance.
