Q & A
TaylorMade’s M2 fairway woods were designed with one simple goal in mind: to give golfers maximum distance and forgiveness in a fairway wood. M2 features a shallow face to help improve launch, especially from the fairway, and a larger sweet spot that keeps ball speeds high on shots struck low on the clubface or off the heel or toe. The stock shaft for the M2 fairway woods is the TM REAX, which comes in 55 and 65 gram models, but multiple premium shafts are also available at no upcharge.

Golfers of all ability levels who want to launch the ball high with their fairway woods while not sacrificing distance or forgiveness. The M2 fairway woods don’t have the adjustable weights or loft sleeve of the M1, but its growing reputation for being extremely easy to hit, especially off the turf, has made M2 a popular choice with members of TaylorMade’s tour staff.
Chris Schram of TGW talks with a TGW customer about the TaylorMade M1 and M2 Fairways.
The lightweight materials used in constructing the crown enabled engineers to shift weight and mass lower and closer to the M2’s impact zone, resulting in improved launch and spin conditions.
A larger sweet spot that creates max forgiveness and reduced spin are functions of what TaylorMade calls its “most aggressive” Speed Pocket.
The M2 uses a fluted hosel and internal acoustic engineering to control vibration and pitch, with the result being excellent feedback at impact and a sound that is solid, hot, and crisp.
“It’s just so easy to hit.”
Justin Rose, PGA Tour player and 2013 U.S. Open champion
“For us, in terms of fairway wood performance and maximizing distance and forgiveness, it’s M2. It’s basically a cannon. It gets up, launches, and it goes forever.”
Brian Bazzel, TaylorMade Senior Director of Product Creation for Metalwoods
“I do not do well with fairway woods off the deck, but I was able to hit (the M2) off the deck better than what I’m playing right now.”

“The M2 felt a little bit more forgiving on mis-hits. The shallower face looks good in inspiring confidence that I can launch this high if I need to.”
