TaylorMade Men's M1 Irons

Game Improvement Performance In A Players Iron Package

Brand new to TaylorMade’s M family for 2017 are the M1 irons, which have been designed to complement the highly successful M2 irons. And from a technological standpoint, there are a number of similarities between M1 and M2, most notably the use of Face Slots and Speed Pockets to improve forgiveness. The Face Slots help preserve ball speed on shots that are struck from the heel or toe, while a redesigned Speed Pocket that has a thinner wall improves performance on shots struck low on the face while also creating higher launch conditions. Additionally, a lighter fluted hosel with a more traditional design has been used in the M1 irons to save weight and move the CG lower and deeper in the clubhead, and a bend slot has been incorporated in the hosel design to give players added ability to adjust loft and lie. Also of note, the M1 irons, like their M2 counterparts, feature what TaylorMade is calling Geocoustic Technology, which utilizes a combination of geometric shaping and acoustic management to enhance sound and feel at impact. In addition to the technological similarities, there are performance similarities between the M1 and M2 as well, as both irons will deliver impressive distance and naturally high launch conditions. All that said, when compared to the M2 irons, the M1s have a much more compact profile with thinner toplines and less offset, a combination that will appeal visually to better players and provide an enhanced ability to work the ball. TaylorMade is offering two stock shaft options in the new M1 irons, the True Temper XP (steel) and the Mitsubishi Kuro Kage Silver (graphite), the latter of which comes at 80 grams in stiff flex, 70 grams in regular flex, and 60 grams in senior flex. There are, however, other custom options available at no upcharge as well, and the stock grip for the M1 irons is the Lamkin UTX-P.

Ideal For:

Golfers of all ability levels. The M1 is an iron that will be a great fit for a wide array of players. It has significant game-improvement benefits, most notably by delivering exceptional distance, high launch, and impressive forgiveness, that will appeal to mid- and high-handicappers. But it also has a clean, compact, traditional look that will likely appeal to better players as well. All said, this will almost certainly prove to be a very successful product for TaylorMade.

Face Slots

Help maintain faster ball speeds on shots hit from the heel or toe, which improves mis-hit performance and improves consistency.

Face Slots

Speed Pocket

Redesigned with a thinner wall, the Speed Pocket increases launch angle and provides more ball speed protection on shots struck low on the clubface.

Fluted Hosel

The M1’s fluted hosel has been redesigned for a more traditional look but it still saves weight and allows for a lower, deeper CG placement.

Geocoustic Technology

Optimal sound and feel are created by combining geometry and acoustic management in the overall design.

What They're Saying ...

“The M1 iron has a very similar overall look to the M2 and actually a lot of the same technologies as M2. We have the fluted hosel, we have the 360-degree undercut, we have the speed pocket and the face slots. What’s really different is that it’s in a more compact head shape.”

Tomo Bystedt, TaylorMade Senior Director of Global Irons

“If you’re the player who likes to work the ball potentially, wants to hit some knockdown shots, likes to work it left to right a little bit, the M1 is going to be more for you.”

Tomo Bystedt, TaylorMade Senior Director of Global Irons

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Helped my Game Still adapting to the longer distances that I get from these clubs compared to my old Burner 2.0's. I could never hit a 4 iron solid until I got the M1 and it has really given me more confidence on the course.
