Q & A

  • The TaylorMade M1 irons have been designed to complement the highly successful M2 irons.
  • There are a number of similarities between M1 and M2, most notably the use of Face Slots and Speed Pockets to improve forgiveness.
  • The Face Slots help preserve ball speed on shots that are struck from the heel or toe, while a redesigned Speed Pocket that has a thinner wall improves performance on shots struck low on the face while also creating higher launch conditions.
  • Additionally, a lighter fluted hosel with a more traditional design has been used in the M1 irons to save weight and move the CG lower and deeper in the clubhead, and a bend slot has been incorporated in the hosel design to give players added ability to adjust loft and lie.
  • The M1 irons feature what TaylorMade is calling Geocoustic Technology, which utilizes a combination of geometric shaping and acoustic management to enhance sound and feel at impact.
  • When compared to the M2 irons, the M1s have a much more compact profile with thinner toplines and less offset, a combination that will appeal visually to better players and provide an enhanced ability to work the ball.

  • Improved Face Slots
  • Lighter fluted hosel
  • CG is lower and deeper in the clubhead
  • Geocoustic technology to enhance sound
  • Stock shaft: Mitsubishi Kuro Kage Silver (graphite)
  • Stock grip: Lamkin UTX-P

Face Slots

Help maintain faster ball speeds on shots hit from the heel or toe, which improves mis-hit performance and improves consistency.

Speed Pocket

Redesigned with a thinner wall, the Speed Pocket increases launch angle and provides more ball speed protection on shots struck low on the clubface.

Side of club

Fluted Hosel

The M1’s fluted hosel has been redesigned for a more traditional look but it still saves weight and allows for a lower, deeper CG placement.

Geocoustic Technology

Optimal sound and feel are created by combining geometry and acoustic management in the overall design.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Irons I'm 18 handicap because I 've been searching for iron over the pass year. I have gone through 5 sets, the M1 Is in my bag know and I intend to be a 12 or so in a matter of months with these irons. I was 9 but I know hitting these I will knock off 5 or 6 strokes off my handicap.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Helped my Game Still adapting to the longer distances that I get from these clubs compared to my old Burner 2.0's. I could never hit a 4 iron solid until I got the M1 and it has really given me more confidence on the course.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great upgrade First I would like to note that this is the first set of irons I have purchased in 7 years so take it as you want however. The upgrade I've noticed over the past 5 months is amazing. Longer, feel amazing, miss bits don't feel that way at all. Only downside I noticed was I was long on all my shots. That's mostly due to the increased distance compared to my old set. Now that I've dialed in these are great. Also I won't be waiting another 7 years to upgrade.

What does a Senior shaft flex mean

Asked by: Old and slow
A senior-flex shaft is appropriate for a golfer who swings less than 70 miles per hour or less. Golfers who swing 70 to 90 miles per hour generally require a regular-flex shaft. Professionals and golfers who swing over 90 miles per hour require stiff or extra-stiff shafts.
