Q & A
The G hybrid, like many other products in the G line, was created to deliver high launch, greater distance, and maximum forgiveness. PING engineers were able to build the G hybrid with a lightweight crown that allowed the CG (center of gravity) to be moved lower and deeper in the clubhead, which leads to optimal launch, increased MOI, and lower spin rates. Additionally, the G hybrid’s face construction delivers faster ball speeds from impact points across the face. PING offers five different lofts -- 17, 19, 22, 26, and 30 -- in the G hybrid series so that golfers have multiple options in terms of replacing different irons in their bags.
|Models/Lofts||2H/17° • 3H/19° • 4H/22° • 5H/26° • 6H/30°|
|Length||2H: 40.75" • 3H: 40.25" • 4H: 39.75 " • 5H: 39.25" • 6H: 38.75"|

Golfers who are looking to replace long irons in their bag with something that’s easier to launch and delivers significant distance. That description would cover 99 percent of the golfing population, meaning a G hybrid (or two) would be a solid addition for most anyone. Of course, many golfers are still looking to hit their hybrids exact distances, so a fitting would be recommended by PING because of the incredible distances the G produces.
The materials used to construct the face are exceptionally strong but also extremely light, which makes for a clubface that flexes more to deliver high launch and fast ball speeds across the face.
As with the G driver, turbulators provide some assistance in reducing drag, but in the hybrid they also serve as alignment and setup aids, better framing the center of the clubface for players.
This innovative feature activates the clubface to flex properly during the swing to ensure faster ball speeds.
“What we really tried to focus (on) with the G hybrid was delivering that distance, being able to hit the ball really high with the appropriate amount of spin, so that player that needs a replacement for their long iron is going to have the potential to hit those high shots that land softly on the green.”

“The G-series hybrid, well, that’s just like cheating. That’s all I can tell you, literally. The dispersion was very small.”

“The hybrids, if I could, I would buy them all right now. From the very first swing, I mean, I was just smashing these things down the range. The best thing I’d say was just the consistency.”
