With the G, PING set out to create a driver that delivered more distance and provided more forgiveness than its popular G30 model. To accomplish that, PING engineers were able to move the CG (center of gravity) lower and deeper than in any PING driver ever made, and the result is higher launch angles with less spin and greater forgiveness. Additionally, the construction of the crown was modified by using lighter materials in places and the head was reshaped slightly, a combination which helps reduce drag by 37 percent to enhance swing speeds and generate more distance.

Golfers of all ability levels. While PING also has two other versions of the G Driver, the SF Tec and LS Tec, this version is the one it believes will fit the vast majority of players. The G is getting plenty of Tour play but it will appeal just as well to mid- and high-handicappers because it’s widely considered to be among the most forgiving drivers on the market. Distance, however, is not something that has to be sacrificed to find more fairways when it comes to the G.

To improve the aerodynamics in the G, PING engineers studied dragonfly wings and after doing so opted to use lighter material in sections of crown. The weight saved allowed the CG to be moved lower and farther back, creating higher MOI and improved launch conditions.
Working in unison with Vortec Technology, the Turbulators on the crown of the G allow drag to be reduced through the hitting zone by 37 percent, which means more ball speed regardless of swing speed.
The variable-thickness club face is constructed of materials that are light but strong, which allows for a thinner face that delivers faster ball speeds.
The Vortec Technology reduces turbulence on the downswing, which leads to more swing speed and more stability at impact.
