PING started in 1959 in Karsten Solheim's garage when he started making putters - naming the brand "PING" after the sound the golf ball made hitting the putter blade. During the 1980's PING pioneered custom fitting from the factory offering clubheads in a variety of lies and offsets dependent on a golfer's playing characteristics, physical attributes and distance. Today, PING golf clubs and equipment continue to be popular on courses across the world.
