Q & A
Completing the GBB Epic line for Callaway are new Epic hybrids, and like other products in the Epic lineup the hybrids are producing faster ball speeds and offering incredible forgiveness. Additionally, one of their other key performance attributes is the ease with which they launch the ball high in the air from any lie condition. Fueling the higher launch conditions and enhanced forgiveness is the first use of a carbon crown by Callaway in a hybrid design. The Epic’s lightweight Triaxial Carbon crown allows weight to be repositioned to create a low CG that enables effortless launch and improved stability at impact. Also helping contribute to the higher launch and MOI is the precise placement of Tungsten weight low and deep in the clubhead. The faster ball speeds that the Epic hybrids produce, meanwhile, is the result of their Hyper Speed Face Cup, which also helps protect ball speed on mis-hits. Also of note, Callaway’s OptiFit hosel allows players to adjust loft by -1/+2 degrees, as well as face angle to help create a draw bias. GBB Epic hybrids come in standard lofts of 18, 20, 23, and 26 degrees and with the UST Mamiya Recoil ES 780 graphite as a stock shaft offering.

Players of all ability levels. The new GBB Epic hybrids have performance attributes that can benefit any golfer. They’re easy to hit, they produce impressive ball speeds and launch conditions, and they offer incredible forgiveness. Additionally, the adjustable OptiFit hosel that was incorporated into the design allows players to dial in exactly what they’re looking for in terms of ball flight, trajectory, and distance. All said, it’s a good bet that you’ll see Epic hybrids in the bags of golfers with dramatically different playing profiles.

Lightweight crown design allows weight to be strategically redistributed to lower the CG for higher launch and enhanced forgiveness.
Enables faster ball speeds from impact points across the clubface to generate more distance regardless of quality of contact.
Precise placement of Tungsten weight helps ensure the most effective CG position for each model to ensure optimal performance.
“Really easy to hit hybrids, loads of ball speed. The shape and size, the workability, is attractive to maybe people who like to work the ball a little bit, the better sort of players. And then also the shape and size, and the forgiveness, and the ease of launch, and the high ball speeds are very attractive to everybody but also to people who need a little bit more help.”
