Q & A
Titleist would describe its 716 T-MB irons as utility clubs. They’ve been designed for golfers as alternatives to hybrids and traditional long irons, as they’re more workable and versatile than most hybrids and more forgiving and playable than most long irons. That said, they still maintain a traditional look, with thin toplines and a muscleback design. In terms of playability, the most notable attribute of the 716 T-MB is the high launch conditions it generates, which are enabled by tungsten weighting that creates a low center of gravity. Tungsten weighting is also used along the perimeter of the clubhead to increase MOI for more forgiveness on mis-hits, and a thin clubface produces high ball speeds on all shots for increased distance. The 2-5 irons in the 716 T-MB are available to be purchased individually as a stock order. What makes this product especially interesting, however, is that the 6-PW are also available individually as a made only to order product, giving players the option of playing an entire set of T-MB irons. In terms of a stock shaft, Titleist is offering the True Temper Dynamic Gold, but other premium options are available at no upcharge as well.

Golfers of all ability levels who are looking for an alternative to a hybrid or traditional long iron. Visually, with its thin topline and muscleback design, the 716 T-MB might appeal most to lower-handicap players. From a playability standpoint, however, these irons will work for a wide variety of players, especially given the high launch angles they produces and the forgiveness they provide.
Creates a low center of gravity for higher launch, less spin, and faster ball speeds, and is also positioned along of the perimeter of the club to increase MOI.
Along with cambered wider soles, the T-MB’s trailing edge relief creates less digging for more solid contact.
“I was really impressed with the T-MB. I got a really high ball flight with it, and I definitely felt more confident hitting a lower iron with it. I got a little more forgiveness, and I also got a little more distance. It felt great coming off the face.”
