Titleist Men's AP2 716 Irons

Tour-Proven Distance And Forgiveness

At address, there’s no question that the 716 AP2 is a players iron, as thin toplines, minimal offset, compact blades, and a forged construction are all part of the stylish package. When you hit the AP2 irons, however, their incredible performance rivals that which can be found in many game-improvement irons, as impressive distance and amazing forgiveness are all part of this club’s playability, along with the soft, crisp feel that Titleist is known for. Given that combination of look, feel, and playability, it should come as no surprise that this is an iron that’s getting plenty of play on Tour. Tungsten weighting that was used in the design low and along the perimeter of the club head increases MOI and helps lower the center of gravity, producing more speed and stability at impact for better results on mis-hits. The optimized CG progression, meanwhile, provides a consistent, tour-proven trajectory with every club, and wider soles with trailing edge relief enable more consistent contact by preventing digging. The stock shaft for the AP2 irons is the True Temper Dynamic Gold, but other custom options are available at no upcharge as well.

Ideal For:

Golfers of all ability levels. While the sleek, compact look of the 716 AP2 irons might lead some to suggest that this iron is only for better players, the combination of distance and forgiveness that it produces makes it a candidate for higher-handicappers as well, especially those who put a premium on feel. High-handicap players should without question also consider the AP1 when making a decision, especially those who really need assistance launching the ball in the air. But AP2 has the playability that will land it in the bags of golfers with a wide array of playing profiles.

Optimized CG Progression

Delivers consistency in terms of ball flight and trajectory with every club in the set.

What Players Like You Are Saying...

What They're Saying...

“AP2 is a tour-played, forgiving iron. It’s a little more compact, it has a little more loft, so it flies a little higher, gives players more workability. We do use tungsten in that iron as well. That repositions the weight more to the perimeter (for) higher MOI, greater distance consistency.”

Brett Porath, Titleist Director of Fitting

“A third of our Tour players are using AP2 irons because of their feel, their consistency, and the forgiveness, yet golfers of all handicap levels still enjoy them.”

Brett Porath, Titleist Director of Fitting

“The AP2 is great as well. Compared to my 714 CBs, I could actually feel an extra pop. The off-center shots still felt very good, and the ball flight was great and consistent.”

TGW customer Jay, +4 handicap

“Weighting wise I really liked the AP2. I felt a little bit more workability with them. I honestly could play either (AP1 or AP2), but given the option I’d probably go with the AP2s. I honestly loved those.”

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Deal! Bought these for a gift for myself. I have played blade irons 3-P for the last 9 years. I was going to purchase the new Mizuno blades, however, I couldn’t pass up the price difference. The AP2s have all the looks of a player’s iron. After playing with them, I understand why so many pros are switching to a more forgiving iron. I am a scratch golfer that plays maybe twice a month. The feel of the short irons is similar to blades. The forgiveness in the mid to long irons is amazing. I have always hit a high straight ball maybe a slight fade when striping it. The AP2s have me hitting a baby draw. If you like hitting the ball dead straight and high the AP2s are for you. If you like hitting all kinds of different shots then stick to blades.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome irons! The best irons I have had. I hit these irons where I want to. My old titelist 762's were great but these ap2 irons I hit flush everytime and they seem a tad more upright than my old clubs. Spend the money for these clubs you will not be disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Missed that blade feeling Really solid club. Coming from playing the Nike Vapor Fly Pro irons, I was worried about loss of distance (the Nike’s are all about 2 degree’s stronger), but I’m actually hitting these irons further with better control of trajectory and shape. You can’t beat the feeling of flushing a blades iron, if you’re consistently around the center of the face, this iron will not disappoint!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Clubs I swapped from the CB's to the AP2's and they great so far. I have more shot control and they still offer good forgiveness on off center hits.
