SkyGolf SkyCaddie Touch GPS is rated 2.3 out of 5 by 15.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Really good GPS with some shortcomings Have used the SkyCaddie Touch for 3 years. I have always found it to work very well on the course. Maps are highly accurate and I have never had issues with the device freezing. There are some shortcomings from a technology standpoint. The bluetooth sync process works, but will periodically fail. Repeating the sync usually works. Syncing by computer (wired connection) generally works well, although is somewhat tortuous. I have found SkyCaddie to be completely unresponsive for requests to update courses. In the past there was an option to report course errors or changes, and I had successfully gotten corrections made. There is no longer a request course change link on their site, except for courses to request changes on their behalf. I have been a loyal SkyCaddie user for the past 10 years. In the past, the improved accuracy of their maps was clearly worth the membership fee. Not sure if that is still the case.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from My goodness, Skycaddie is almost dead First off, sky caddie used to have a leg up on all GPS's, they just had better maps. That's the ONLY reason you would agree to pay the crazy annual fees they wanted (for those that live near the border of 3 states and play in all 3, they made you buy the expensive "nationwide plan"...but that's another story). Now, Garmin is just as good. Seriously, I've run them side by side, Garmin performed just as well. So why would you pay for the annual fees? You won't. To make matters worse, this particular device by Skycaddie is TERRIBLE. Their software never works, it always hangs on updates or fails for some other random reasons (like if you use virus software, or if your screen times out, or if you breath wrong). The device freezes all the time on the course too. It's just a bad device from a dying company.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Never Worked Properly The SGX was a disaster. My wife and I each had one, and literally threw them away, and bought Garmin's instead. The SGX took several seconds for the screen to come in. Software never loaded properly, and phone support couldn't help. They would always say the last person told me wrong; it took several long phone calls each time we wanted to update the courses. The Garmin isn't quite as good a picture, but it's actually useable; the SkyGolf products look good, but never worked well.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible Went back to my SGX, although it is such a chore every time I have to upload a new course to the SGX. Their software is horrible if you are an Apple user.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Too many issues I've had this unit for about 2.5 years. The first issue I had was with it freezing after 2-4 holes, and not recovering. i would turn it off and then back on, it would recover briefly, and then freeze again within a couple of holes!! The 2nd issue was when I couldn't download new courses. I spent an hour on the phone with their techs, and was finally told to "download the courses, one at a time". ARRRGGGH! I just re-upped my membership earlier this year for around $100. I'm gonna get a Garmin, and then try to recoup some of my subscription cost. Wish me luck, and you stay away fro skycaddie!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Battery life stinks I upgraded from the SGX5 to the Touch because the battery on the SGX5 failed, and they talked me into upgrading, what a mistake. The new touch units battery was drained before I could complete a 4.5 hour round. Thought it may have been me, so I made sure it was fully charged before using again. Same thing drained battery after 17 holes. Contacted them reporting the issue, they sent a replacement unit, same results. Contacted support again, asked for my $$$ back, they said we don't do refunds, but they sent a third unit, claiming it will work. Guess what, same results, their specs say the battery life will last 10-12 hrs, it doesn't. They have a major problem but won't admit it. They finally agreed to a full refund. I've had a SkyCaddie unit for years always satisfied, but no more.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from good features when it works I purchased my skycaddie touch about a year ago and it has not preformed very well. It switches holes or turns off in the middle of a round. Presently it is locked up and can not use it. Bad product.

Howto unfreeze it

Asked by: Paul136
If you have a SkyCaddie Touch you can reset the caddie by pressing and holding down the power button for about 25 seconds. The caddie should power off. Then, power it back on to make sure it is responding properly. If you are still having problems we recommend you contact the manufacture directly for more details.
