Q & A

PING Men's G400 Irons

More Distance, Higher Launch

Through the years, G-series irons from PING have garnered a reputation for giving golfers incredible playability and impressive forgiveness, and that’s something that will not be changing with the new G400 irons. In fact, the new G400 irons are arguably the most player friendly G-series irons that PING has ever created, which is lofty praise. Most notably, these are irons that offer incredible distance and launch conditions while still delivering the spin rates that players need to stop the ball on the green. The stock shaft options for the G400 irons are the AWT 2.0 steel or the lightweight Alta CB graphite. PING, however, is offering several popular aftermarket shafts at no upcharge to fit the needs of players who need a different shaft profile.

  • PING’s COR-Eye Technology and a new Toprail Undercut Cavity work in unison to help the clubface flex more at impact for increased ball speed and higher launch.
  • Made with Hyper 17-4 Stainless Steel, the G400’s clubface is 40 percent thinner when compared to the G iron, which also contributes to ball speed increases.
  • A concealed Custom Tuning Port has been implemented into the design to increase perimeter weighting for enhanced forgiveness, while a full cavity badge produces improved acoustics and feel at impact.
  • The G400’s Hydropearl chrome finish offers elegant aesthetics and provides 40 percent less friction to deliver more consistent results in wet conditions or from difficult lies in the rough.

PING Men's G400 Irons Black Standard Utility Wedge AWT 2.0 Steel Regular Left is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 68.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Quality of the clubs can be a lot better Love the clubs, forgiving but the quality of the material or coating is not great, they scratch very easy

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best Irons I have used I’ve been fitted twice with mi uno before I think that the ping fitting program is second to none the feel sound and forgiveness is outstanding I’m a 7 handicap and have played 7 out of my last 10 rounds under handicap just waiting for the U Wedge because there’s a big gap in loft between pitching wedge and the sand wedge if you have a decent swing these clubs are for you

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for low handicaps I was tired of hitting traditional players clubs. The G400s have a great profile that doesn’t scream “chunky”. The stronger lofts allowed me to go 6-P dropping the 5 iron I used to carry. The biggest concern I heard about was lower spin rates compared to a players iron. Now objectively there is most likely a difference, but subjectively I haven’t noticed during on course testing. I get plenty of stopping power into greens and am able to control trajectory. Feels like I’m playing on easy mode. Hopefully by next summer I can push from +1 to +3. Note: Get custom fit. :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great golfset! I love the G400. I love the feel, the looks and the forgiveness. I'm only a 35 handicapper but with this set I'm on my way to 20. Started with just the irons w - 7. Now I need to buy a bigger bag because I have now 54, UW, W, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5H, 5W and the Max Driver. All G400 expert the 54, it's a Glide. Before I had the G20, but I really love the G400 better and recommend the set to all mid handicap players and beginners.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stellar I was due for a new set of irons and tested several products from the major OEMs. These stood out as the easiest to hit, but with a ballooning launch initially. Once getting the shaft dialed for a more penetrating ball flight, I pulled the trigger. I could not be happier. Get fit and make the game fun again. I am not missing my forged butter knives one bit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent control I bought the 5 iron and the loft wedge. From about 65 yards the wedge is deadly. I hit the 5 iron several times . Average 165 to 180 yards dead straight. Great clubs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing technology Great distance, extremely forgiving for me and a marked improvement from my previous irons. As a high handicapper, I unconsciously ‘force’ my swing but with this and an easy swing I get amazing distance. Took them out today for a game( my 2nd time since I purchased them) and can’t wait till Saturday for another game

Rated 5 out of 5 by from game improving to golf satisfaction I bought these clubs about three months ago took little time to get the feel but after a few games started to really enjoy the choice. They have rekindled my love of golf and the best thing was getting an ace on my home track love my G 400s. So if any one is thinking about trying these clubs don't hesitate

Help me with lie angle. How do I determine if I need sometning besides standard?

Asked by: Lane
We would recommend seeing a local club fitter or you may get a quick statistic fit for any type of club based on some measurements. You can get a quick fitting at http://nflightweb.ping.com/#ready
