From a technological standpoint, PING’s G SF Tec driver shares many of the same features as its stablemate, the G. Like the G, the SF Tec’s center of gravity has been moved lower and deeper in the clubhead to promote optimal launch conditions, faster ball speeds, and higher MOI. It also was designed aerodynamically to reduce drag, which helps golfers create more swing speed. There are differences, however. Weight in the SF Tec was moved closer to the heel and the club’s swing weight is lighter. Both of those components help golfers who need assistance in squaring the clubface at impact.

Golfers who are looking to eliminate a slice or straighten out a fade. Like the G, the SF Tec delivers optimal distance and forgiveness, but by moving the back weight that’s on the bottom of the club closer to the heel and lowering the swing weight from D3 to D1, squaring the clubface at impact is more easily attainable. That said, if you fight a hook, this likely isn’t the model for you.
To improve the aerodynamics in the G, PING engineers studied dragonfly wings and after doing so opted to use lighter material in sections of crown. The weight saved allowed the CG to be moved lower and farther back, creating higher MOI and improved launch conditions.
Working in unison with Vortec Technology, the Turbulators on the crown of the G allow drag to be reduced through the hitting zone by 37 percent, which means more ball speed regardless of swing speed.
The variable-thickness clubface is constructed of materials that are light but strong, which allows for a thinner face that delivers faster ball speeds.
