Q & A

PING Men's G SFT Driver

Faster. More Forgiving. By Far. Now In A Straight Flight, Right-To-Left Shape.

  • New Dragonfly Technology uses ultra-thin crown sections to save 8 grams of weight to optimize CG and MOI
  • Vortec Technology minimizes wake turbulence at the back of the club for a faster, more stable swing
  • Turbulator Technology on the crown creates more efficient airflow so you can swing faster
  • Lowest, deepest CG location and highest MOI of any PING driver ever for straighter, longer tee shots
  • T9S titanium face construction is hotter and thinner for maximum deflection and distance at more impact locations
  • Trajectory Tuning Technology features a 5-setting hosel for +/- 1 degree of loft adjustment

From a technological standpoint, PING’s G SF Tec driver shares many of the same features as its stablemate, the G. Like the G, the SF Tec’s center of gravity has been moved lower and deeper in the clubhead to promote optimal launch conditions, faster ball speeds, and higher MOI. It also was designed aerodynamically to reduce drag, which helps golfers create more swing speed. There are differences, however. Weight in the SF Tec was moved closer to the heel and the club’s swing weight is lighter. Both of those components help golfers who need assistance in squaring the clubface at impact.

Ideal For:

Golfers who are looking to eliminate a slice or straighten out a fade. Like the G, the SF Tec delivers optimal distance and forgiveness, but by moving the back weight that’s on the bottom of the club closer to the heel and lowering the swing weight from D3 to D1, squaring the clubface at impact is more easily attainable. That said, if you fight a hook, this likely isn’t the model for you.

To improve the aerodynamics in the G, PING engineers studied dragonfly wings and after doing so opted to use lighter material in sections of crown. The weight saved allowed the CG to be moved lower and farther back, creating higher MOI and improved launch conditions.

Crown Turbulators

Working in unison with Vortec Technology, the Turbulators on the crown of the G allow drag to be reduced through the hitting zone by 37 percent, which means more ball speed regardless of swing speed.

Crown Turbulators

T9S Face

The variable-thickness clubface is constructed of materials that are light but strong, which allows for a thinner face that delivers faster ball speeds.

What They're Saying...

“With the SF Tec, the CG is moved a little bit heel side and that helps a (right-handed) player fight those misses to the right. And again, it delivers industry leading forgiveness in terms of MOI.”

Erik Henrikson, Ping Innovation and Fitting Science Manager

What Players Like You Are Saying...

“Once we got the proper loft and shaft, the consistency was incredible. The launch was in a very tight range, the spin was in a tight range, and I was getting at least 10 more yards of carry than I’ve been experiencing and probably 10 more yards of roll out. It’s a wonderful club.”

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Forgiving, get great distance for a 70 year old! I am a high handicapper and am hitting more fairways than ever. I'm 70 and I am hitting drives in the 240 to 260 yard range.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from C⚡️Does what it’s designed to do I’ve played twice with this driver and I am very pleased with the results. My slice is now a power fade.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stable, longer, more consistant Big improvement, straighter, longer, and more forgiving than the older drivers. Need to swing at 80% to keep the face straight, and get those fairway drives to run.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent driver! I've played about 10 rounds with this driver. I bought it after not playing for several years. First, TGW's service was prompt and accurate as always. Second, this driver is very easy to hit. Can you still slice it or tank it? Of course, but it happens a lot less often. My playing partners remark about the high flight of the ball and the great distance I get. This is a good club and well worth the money. It won't take your average score from 100 to par but it will make you more confident and that and practice will get your handicap down.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Update - Love Pings, but Hate this driver Sent the club back to ping to test, apparently something was loose in the head. Must have happened when I changed the loft after first getting it, to the loft I was fitted for. Some how this loosened something. There tests after it was fixed was unbelievable, and it hit according to most reviews online; very well by those at the factory. I have only used the driver a couple of times so far, busy July. But, after it was fixed the driver hits and sounds much better, I still think that this particular driver and the ball flight fights against my swing. It may just be me and I need to work through it more as I had a little over a year battling this club and now it's in my head. But it appears to be hitting way better, I recommend pings over all, as I stated, I have always loved my pings. So all I can say is always make sure you get a driver that really fits you. I was fitted, but I never really tested out the divers side by side; which I would recommend anytime you can.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Response I bought this club a week ago. Played twice. Very forgiving driver. I stopped over swinging but this club has straightened out my slice dramatically and added 20 yards. Ping has done a great job with this club. Very please and would recommend it to anyone the hitting the ball to the right drastically. Not a cure-all but definitely does what it’s suppose to do.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Club Improved Performance Glad I bought this. Switched from an M1 and couldn't be happier. Plays longer and straighter than any driver I have hit. I fight the fade to slice on bigger driver heads and this SFT helps square up at impact. Much more confident swinging the big stick now.

i currently use the G30 am i to understand that this club will help fight the fade/slice cuz that's the least of my problems - i draw the ball and half the time hit it straight - does this club outperform the G30 distance-wise ?

Asked by: sultan of swat
According to some reviews based on testing the G30 performed with slightly better distance.

What is soft regular? Length of this club? Does it have SF Tec? New or used?

Asked by: Blazoo
Soft regular flex is PING's equivalent to a senior flex shaft. This club is listed at 45.75" in length. Yes, this is the Straight Flight Tec driver. This is a new club.

This driver has 5 adjustments. It starts at 0 and then for one click left has a - and for two clicks left has a smaller (same as to the right with a + and then a smaller +). Does one click left reduce the loft by .5 degrees and two clicks by 1.0 degree?

Asked by: Banyan member
Yes that is correct.
