Q & A

Mizuno Men's MP18 MMC Irons

The Ultimate In Feel, Control, And Precision

Through the years, “MP” has been synonymous for serious golfers with irons that featured aesthetic beauty and performance built around control and precision. And while it has been a couple of years since Mizuno released a new MP iron, the company is back in a big way with its MP-18 lineup, which offers three unique models to meet the needs of any golfer. More specifically, the MP-18 MMC (multi-material construction) irons feature the clean, classic shaping of a players cavity back with some distance-enhancing technology that has also been incorporated into the design. Most notably, 20 grams of high-density tungsten has been positioned in the toe of the 4-7 iron to expand the sweet spot and improve launch conditions, and each iron in the set has has eight grams of titanium forged into the body of the clubhead to improve forgiveness on off-center strikes. Those differences aside, much of the other technology in the MP-18 MMC irons is identical to their stablemates. The MMC irons also utilize a new high-density Grain Flow forging process that creates impact feel and acoustics that are more solid and even softer than what Mizuno has long been known for. Additionally, the 1025E carbon steel that has been used in constructing the clubheads contributes to the MP-18 MMC’s soft feel and also provides more consistent results in terms of distance, spin, and trajectory. The MMC irons also feature a Satin Nickel Chrome finish that offers durability and elegance, while also ensuring that players won’t have to worry about glare on sunny days. Mizuno’s new MP-18 MMC irons are available in a 4-PW set makeup and come standard with Nippon Modus 120 shafts and Golf Pride MCC grips.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really enjoying my MMC 18's I tried the demo version of the MMC18 with the stock Modus shaft and really enjoyed playing them. This is my third set of Mizuno irons. I can honestly say I am hooked on Mizuno irons. I went with a slightly lighter shaft and I can say it was a good move for me. I talked and worked through all the options with the pro who fit me and it was time well spent. The irons were built quickly and spot on the specs and delivered just as quickly. I am still working through distances but I am settling in with them very well. I bought the 5 through PW in the Modus 105 stiff shaft. Great feel and I will say on mishits, pretty forgiving and not overly punishing on the feel when mishits occur. I definitely will have these irons for a while and I am very happy with them! Thanks Mizuno!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best looking clubs ever If you have been fitted for clubs and you know what you are looking for, this is a great way to purchase. I got MMC's in 5 and 6 iron. I had SC's in 7 & 8 and MC's in PW and 9. A little more forgivness as the clubs get longer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Iron Was fit into this club after trying 8 different shafts and 10 different iron heads (various manufacturers). The stock Modus shaft is amazing, the weighting feels great. The heads are pure. They look great, and the feel is well balanced and soft. I did a little hybrid set-up changing out the 5 &4 iron with the Hi-Fly versions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing set to mix up. I have the 5 and 4 iron to mix in with my MP-18 MB's and they are awesome. Feel great. The do have a little firmer feel, but not bad at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best I've ever had. Got fitted for the MP-18's, hit all 4 models and settled on the MP-18 SC for the wedge thru 7 iron and went with the MP-18 MMC on the 6 thru 4 iron as well as the 3 iron in the fli hi bent to a 2 iron loft. Put the accu-tech 110 gram safe in. These club make a perfect transition all the wat through the set an feel like butter. The look, feel, and performance exceeded my expectation and I have been playing Mizuno irons for 20 years. By far the best iron Mizuno has made, I would recommend these to anyone, any combination that fits there game the best. Thank you Mizuno

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow, what beautiful clubs! I ordered a combo set of MMC, 3-6 in the MP18 MMC Fli-Hi, 7-W in the MP18 MMC, and the S18 gunmetal wedges in 50-07, 54-12 and 58-08; all with Project X LZ Tour 5.0 graphite shafts. Unfortunately, the 7-W have yet to arrive so I'm hoping to initiate them this weekend. But on looks alone, as compared to the MP H4's they're replacing, they're already winners!

The picture shows the titanium portion with a gold color. I feel like I have seen these other places and it was not gold. How do these actually look in person- gold or silvery chrome color?

Asked by: MizMouse
We checked on the manufacturer's site and it appears that the portion shown does have that slightly gold color.

Good afternoon. Is the shaft flex number of 4.5 considered regular flex? How does the flex compare with #4 and #5? Thank you.

Asked by: JimPil
A 4.5 flex is closer to a senior flex shaft.

What head is more forgiving mmc or sc

Asked by: Pingpete
Both sets of irons are designed for forgiveness and ease. The MCC is the more forgiving option. The MMC stands for Multi-Material Construction and Mizuno has forged 8g of titanium into the heads so that they can move additional weight to the perimeter of the sole for more forgiveness.
