Q & A
Utility irons have become increasingly popular in the last few years, as golfers have continued to look for alternatives to both traditional long irons and, more recently for some, hybrids. And when it comes to utility irons, Mizuno has long been ahead of the curve with its popular Fli-Hi franchise. Brand new from Mizuno are its MP-18 MMC Fli-Hi irons, which have been designed to give golfers the workability and control that they would get out of a long iron but with the higher launch conditions and increased distance that hybrids offer. Fueling the performance of the MP-18 HiFli irons is a 1770 maraging steel face that’s thin and flexible, a combination that creates faster ball speeds and increased distance. Making the high launch conditions possible, meanwhile, are a hollow body construction that enables a low, deep CG positions, as well as 20 grams of tungsten weight that has been positioned in the toe. The tungsten also helps increase MOI for better results on mis-hits. Additionally, Harmonic Impact Technology implemented in the design creates exceptional sound and feel at impact, while the Satin Chrome Nickel finish won’t glare and offers an impressive combination of elegance and durability. Mizuno MP-18 MMC Fli-Hi irons are available in 2 through 6 models that range in loft from 16.5 to 28 degrees. They also feature KBS C-Taper Lite shafts and Golf Pride MCC grips.
