Q & A

  • In designing its new Glide 2.0 wedges, PING’s priority was to improve spin in an effort to give golfers even more control over their golf ball, and that goal has been realized in multiple ways.
  • Glide 2.0 wedges feature additional grooves that have been implemented into the design to increase friction on all shots.
  • In the lower lofted wedges (46-52 degrees) one groove has been added, while two grooves have been added to the higher lofted models (54-60 degrees).
  • A new precision milling process being used for Glide 2.0 has increased spin rates on full shots by nearly 350 RPM over the original Glide wedges and by roughly 200 RPM on shots played from around the green.
  • The stainless steel heads also repel moisture, giving players maximum spin even in wet conditions.

  • Four versatile sole shapes
  • Additional groove design
  • Precision milling construction
  • There will be four unique sole shapes available in the Glide 2.0 wedge line, each of which has been designed to work for players with different swing characteristics and from varying turf and sand conditions.
  • Glide 2.0 wedges come in lofts of 46, 50, 52, 54, 56, 58, and 60 degrees.
  • Stock shaft: 118-gram PING CFS wedge shafts that were designed to produce a lower trajectory for enhanced control on full wedge shots and shots played from around the green.
  • Stock grip: PING Dyla-Wedge

Four Versatile Sole Shapes

To meet the needs of every player, PING offers its Glide 2.0 wedges with four different sole designs. The SS (standard sole) is a versatile, mid-bounce option that will work well from all turf and sand conditions and for players with moderate angles of attack. The WS (wide sole), thanks to its high-bounce design, is perfect for someone with a steeper angle of attack or those who play at courses with soft sand or turf conditions and heavy rough around the greens. The low-bounce TS (thin sole) is a good choice for players who have shallow angles of attack and play most typically from firmer turf and sand conditions. And finally, the ES (eye sole) was designed to excel from bunkers and offer increased versatility around the greens.

Additional Groove Design

To create increased and optimal spin, grooves are positioned closer together, and wedges with lofts from 54-60 degrees have two added grooves while those between 46-52 degrees have one added groove compared to the original Glide wedges.

Dyla-Wedge Grip

The stock grip on Glide wedges is 3/4 of an inch longer to allow players to grip down on full shots or shots around the green to better control trajectory.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than the original Glide I bought this club as a replacement . It has preformed better than my first generation Glide (it was excellent too). I will order replacements for my 56 and 60 degree wedges as well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far, so good I bought the 56-WS grind (sand) and the 60-ES grind (lob). I should note I have only hit these on the range and have yet to play an actual round with them yet. I have a tournament in a few weeks and will put them to the test out there. I had read/viewed several reviews from various sources. One in particular said this particular model wedge felt "hard" upon impact with the ball. I recently went in for a wedge fitting to find out which bounce/grinds fit my swing type and did not notice the "hard" sensation that was described. However; once I got out to the range, I noticed exactly what they were talking about. The best way to explain it is I feel like I am hitting the ball thin on full shots. The ball is flying normally or as expected, but it just feels like a hard, thin impact. Shorter shots (-50 yards) are not as severe and feel a bit more normal. Spin/release around the green felt really good. Have not had a chance to try them in bunkers yet though. I have noticed the face with the grooves seems to be a bit "scratchy" from the ball impacts. Not sure if this is just the "brushed nickel silky finish" that is scratching or if it's the actual metal club head.......??? I understand a wedge looses groove sharpness and does obtain a scratchy surface appearance over time, but I did not expect it to happen after only 50 or so hits at the driving range. My understanding is the Glide 2.0 Stealth has much softer/better feel and more durable face, but I really did not like the black numbers on the black face. I don't want to spend 2-3 minutes making sure I pulled the right wedge out of my bag because I can't read the completely subdued digits. At any rate...........aside from the hard impact, I do like the shaft and especially the dyl-a-wedge grip. The extra grip length and placement of the markings make it super-easy to put your hands in just the right spot for a variety of shots. I would recommend this product to a friend if they liked the crisp/hard/thin type of interaction with the ball.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Wedge I needed a new 60 degree wedge. I purchased the Ping Glide based on a recommediation from the course pro. I've tested it around the green in practice. It is going to improve my game.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Scoring tool Purchased the 52 and 56 degree Glide 2.0's and then found a PW online. These wedges make it easy to create spin on the ball around the green where ball control is so important. With some proper practice, you can take control of your game around the green.

What is the difference between "wedge" and "regular" under shaft options?

Asked by: maa2505
Wedge flex is a little stiffer than a regular flex shaft, but not quite as stiff as a stiff flex.

I'm looking at ordering 3 custom spec Ping Glide 2.0 wedges but under grip portion the standard grip, PING Dyla-Wedge, isn't listed and that is the grip I'd like. It is listed for the old Glide wedge, I'd appreciate any info if it is available. Thanks.

I'd like to order a glide wedge 54 degrees to use as my sand wedge. which out of these would be best suited for a SW ? TS = Thin Sole WS = Wide Sole SS= Standard Sole ES = Eye Sole?

Asked by: Steve
The 54° wedge is available in Standard Sole or Eye Sole. We would recommend the Eye Sole, PING designed this specific sole grind to excel out of bunkers.

I have the pgin g700s 5-SW, SW is 54.5 degrees, i used to play 52-56-60 degrees....typically use the SW unless i have to go high and then turn to the lob. should i go 58 or 60 ping slide 2.0?

Asked by: guru1972
To keep loft gaps consistent a 58° wedge may fit better with a 54.5° sand wedge.
